Expedition placing base computer

I might be doing something wrong, but I can't place a base computer anywhere. I've treked a long ways away from where I spawned in and my ship is. There are no other bases anywhere near me, so not sure why I can't place it.

Also, hoping we get a wiring loom as a reward because we can't craft them and the closest trading post is a nine hour walk : P

I had to walk very long away frem the respawn(13 minutes), then it was ok. I guess players build bases to take a checkpoint and delete bases but the area stays forbidden for a new bases? Too many players on the same planet. I spent 5 hours to leave that dull planet. It's a very tough expedition, to say.

Yes, many of the materials needs for certain steps are rewards from other steps,

Plus I was able to build a Galactic trade terminal in my little base building and I think wiring looms are always available from that.

Ok, I finally successfully placed a base unit. Was strange as I was way away from all bases. Then I finally got a green base computer, but when it scanned it said there was a previous base there . . .meaning what I don't know. That happened quite a few times, but finally, FINALLY! I got it to take. Completed base construction, and my base does hold out the weather if that gives anyone hope. Also got the wiring looms I needed as a reward which I suspected would happen.

Did anyone else get the Minotaur construction reward even though they didn't build one? I did. Go figure. Anyhoo, I seem to be off again making progress.

This is the most griefer ready mess ever. Within 30 minutes of loading in, I had someone build a base computer within 1 screen of my ship and then leave. There were no other crashed ships within 600u of me. This *** had to WALK through toxic hell JUST to grief my ship site.

I just started/init a new expedition with network off. So I have the whole planet for my own (although there is one Captain Steve Base on the horizon). Please tell me how this is possible :-)

I switched off multiplayer.

I had a similar problem putting down a base computer, but there were quite a few others bases popping up (eventually). I think the space gets reserved as soon as the base computer is successfully deployed, but you only actually see another player's base after it's been uploaded. Which would explain why putting a base computer down can be blocked without any other base necessarily being visible nearby.


I also got the Minotaur reward without building the Minotaur. Not sure what happened there.

Go into options then network. Change multiplayer to disabled.

Sort of... At one point I'd completed the step that gave me the Exocraft Summoning Station (call your exocraft without having the station on the planet thing) and on a hunch I tried to call a vehicle. I didn't have a Minotaur but apparently I *did* have the bike, despite never having built the bay and never completing the step that gives it to you. And when I called out the bike I got 'Primary exocraft switched' and it completed the 'deploy the Minotaur' step. I'm not sure I even placed the summoning station in the first place.

...So, yeah.

I think the intention *might* have been that you actually start with a Minotaur but can't call it, until you do the expedition step that gives you the summoning station and place it. Except you have the bike instead. And the ESS doesn't matter. And the next step is hooked up wrong. This is just one of many bugs I've experienced on expedition 3. :) (Although having said that, I reloaded the save and bought and built the Minotaur bay for real and that *also* completed the 'summon the Minotaur' step...)

Switching off multiplayer doesn't seem to be working anyway. Turned mine off yesterday, and to be sure started over. Made some decent progress, woke up this morning, and there are bases all around me again. Multiplayer is still OFF in my settings. The first of many bugs this morning.

Multiplayer doesn't affect whether other people's bases appear, just whether other people do. I'm not sure how it decides whose bases appear.

I had multiplayer off, and could only see Captain Steve's Turtle Mech.

To prevent the bases from appearing, you have to turn your internet off altogether.

That was the only one I could see all of last night. Meh, I am about over it honestly. Other bases are the least of my bugs/annoyances today.
