  1. Save and exit from the game
  2. Download last goatfungus NMSSaveEditor
  3. Open your savefile with the NMSSaveEditor
  4. Go in Edit->Edit Raw JSON
  5. Go in PlayerStateData->SettlementStatesV2
  6. Look for your settlement by settlement Name
  7. Stats[5] is the debt value
  8. Change that value Stats[5] as you wish
  9. Exit from the Edit Raw JSON
  10. Tell to save
  11. Save again from the save editor
  12. Exit the save editor
  13. Run the game
  14. Enjoy!!!

I've got the same problem. Turns out the timer doesn't show the number of days your debt's got left, just the hours. That's why it keeps jumping up by hours every day.

That said, I'm still not sure if its paying off how I think it is. When I calculate the debt vs repayment time, it doesn't look anything like what I'd expect given the rate of repayment on the settlement console.

Nope! It's definitely a bug. I looked 10mins ago what's going on in my settlement.
Debt is at 300k, Income at 445k and maintenance at 205k. It should be paid off already. That was the case yesterday already with just 2hrs left on the timer and a few thousand credits debt left and than the timer was back at 23hrs+... and my saloon is again in construction mode after being finished yesterday! xD The expedition I started yesterday didn't even show up anymore. No debriefing, nothing! Money gone, no loot! Instead I got a new 'mission' with two citizens in trouble.

Timers are messed up there, but I got two lots of goods out of it before I went into debt again, where I currently am.

Thanks for sharing that! Its nice to know its possible under whatever specific scenario of cosmic alignment.

It seems the debt reduction is bugged.

My settlement generates 535,206 per day, the maintenance is 142,822. A profit of 382,284.

My current debt is 248,147. It's ticking down 1 per 5 seconds. So lets do some quick maths:

248,147 x 5 = 1,240,735 seconds or 20,678.9 minutes or 344.64 hours or 14.36 days.

It should be clear by the end of the next cycle/day and be in the positive. This hasn't happened yet, nor has the debt decreased significantly due to productivity rising.

Yeah, I should have added in daily maintenance to those numbers which add several lifetimes of playing to reduce it to zero debt... :steammocking:

By the time the next cycle starts I earn enough to pay off the debt in full + pay the maintenance in full and have a few units left over. Who want's to bet that won't happen?

Timers are messed up there, but I got two lots of goods out of it before I went into debt again, where I currently am.
I am pretty confident that timers and settlement debt reduction/clearing is bugged, my settlement is in constant debt despite its productivity doubles its maintenance cost and it's more than its maintenance cost + current debt. It's in this situation since a couple of days, every time the timer is up I see a new timer with a different debt value...

I'm starting to think more and more that debt and maintenance cost are BS. Just useless numbers to make it appear the has some depth to it. If the debt goes away and we get in the positive, are we supposed to be able to pull money out? Anyone know? If not, what point do those numbers really serve?

I am starting to agree with you, it seems that days aren't shown in the timer GUI, in such a case, it's the timer GUI that's bugged.

It's one of the many bugs supposed to be fixed with current experimiental. The math witht the debt are wrong because reloading game will restart the count for debt decreasing, as well as competion time for buildings etc. Should be fixed in exp now.

There aren't the days missing! Your calculation is wrong! With the numbers of your settlement:
Income per day: 532261 credits
Maintenance per day: 199213 credits
Your plus per day: 333048 credits

So you earn 333048 credits per day after your maintenance has been paid. Your debt is at 219836 credits total which is about 2/3 of your daily plus. With these values your debt must be paid off after about 2/3 of a day... that's about 16hrs and not days!
