Am I the only one who thinks settlements feel kinda... bad?
Like for instance, when you get a dispute with an unknown outcome, the game doesn't tell you that the unknown outcome, could give you a NEGATIVE perk, why? there is nothing explaining how any of the features of a settlement works, and getting a negative perk which can have seriously adverse side effects from a citizen dispute, is just stupid, the risk is not worth it. So lesson learned, if you get a citizen dispute, choose the one that doesn't say unknown outcome.... seriously, because its definitely not worth it. Actually to be honest the entire Settlement thing seems to not be worth bothering with in general.... which is really kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ considering the potential of it.

The current state of the game doesn't reflect how settlements are really supposed to work because of the many bugs that many players continue reporting. Maybe after 1-2 patches your title question can be answered more positively.
The interactions with settlements are quite limited because of these constant time sinks that delay considerably the constructions and I rather would like to be able to make own constructions on-site which is not possible without mods.

What is a negative perk?

It feels skippable more than anything.

I didnt know how else to describe it, a negative effect, you get perks for settlements and settlements also have starting "perks" basically, which you can get more of eventually through choices made and so on, but there are negative ones that dont go away.

Also I haven't seen any feedback inthe game from my decisions that tell me if I were right or wrong with my actions, you can only watch the overview afterwards, but it's not clear-cut.

yeah same, there also just aren't any meaningful choices really which just is kind of disappointing to me.

Yup, but you still can get punished for it heavily for a very stupid reason.

I'm missing how you get all this information. All I see is my stats on my overview screen, which only really change when I build something or hire someone, etc. I'm getting out of debt and happyness is going up, so what else should I be concerned about?

You don't see a bunch of different information to the right side, that have effects like higher sentinel alert levels, more happiness, etc. ? because its in that menu, could be another bloody glitch with this update.... wouldn't surprise me at this point, but trust me they do exist.

IT really does feel like... kinda... just a thing?

I dunno. With more updates I hope it gains more functionality, but as it is, it's really just a side distraction. You can't DO anything with it other than go there and press A or B.

Yeah exactly this, it just seems like a really boring, pointless feature, they need to add some sort of importance to it beyond just another off hands way of earning resources. Which is not really needed seeing as how there are easy methods to earning hundreds of millions of credits in a day. And getting a bunch of resources as well, its just kinda silly.

Settlement features are the perks. They have negative and positive effects and you can get more based on choices you make, mainly with visitors though it would seem.
Faceplant Sep 5, 2021 @ 9:00pm
I do agree that some of the choices are not obvious, but I've only seen that issue with resolving disputes, which seems pretty random which side you choose. I haven't seen a visitor that I wouldn't accept, and they've always been a positive affect, so I maybe I haven't seen what you're talking about.

Well visitors have positive effects yeah but if you choose the side of the citizen dispute where it says "results unknown" or something like that, you can get shafted with a negative effect. They really need to rename Settlement features to Settlement perks, because it is literally a perk system, the game is just ♥♥♥♥ at telling you that.
