Settlement debt

HEy guys,

I have an issue, a few days ago I managed to get a positive production/maintenance cost (not a lot, 195k maintenance for 205k production) the menu said the debt would be cleared in 24 hours.

24 hours later I'm back and my debt is still at 224k and the timer for "clearing" is back at 24 hours.

I haven't done any decision nor construction during the first 24 hours as there was no interaction available during that time (I did build a small warehouse before tho)

That's not an enormous amount of debt yet. I was finally able to start a factory yesterday that boosted production so that my debt is now declining slowly. I don't know how the timer works, but I'm certain my debt won't be erased in the time it indicates. Debt was almost 240k but now under 200k. I think the timer is when your surplus income is applied to the debt or when you can collect the surplus if you have no debt. Doesn't really indicate when you will be debt free. Be patient and I'm sure it'll work out. : )

lucky you lol, my dept started at 367k and only gets worse because i dont get any overseer events other than to build a factory or a bar.

I do know the build timer is realtime but I am starting to think that the production timer is in
game time.

With a 205k production and 195k maintenance that is 10k surplus.
224k debt at 10k/day would mean 22.4 days to clear.
But all the stats are weird and behave different as expected.

Example from my settlement:
I have 77k debt at 27k/day surplus and watched the debt ticking down. It goes down by about 6 per realtime minute. That would mean 6 * 60 * 24 = 8640 per day which is not 27k.
My "Time Until Cleared" started at 20:00 (which makes no sense, should be close to 3 days) and ticks down in realtime seconds. When it reached 00:00 it went to 23:59:59 next (makes even less sense).

Looks very broken to me in the current state,

i have built the roof of the bar 5 times now.... kinda done with this game till i see an update that isnt made but college students with no programming skill.

I just got my production over expenses. It says 20 hours, but by my math it will be 4 days. I guess I'll find out, assuming I don't get opportunities to change the finances.

Looks like the debt is reduced by a unit each 5 seconds... I have 150k debt with an profit of 120k (Production being 120k above maintenance cost) and the speed of deducted units on the debt hasn't changed... It is surely a bug, that wasn't resolved in 3.6.3...

PinkHusky is right: debt always decreases at 1 unit per 5 seconds, regardless of how much greater your productivity level is than your maintenance costs. I have a productivity level of 324,982 units per day with a maintenance cost of 244,115 units per day, meaning my settlement should be reducing its debt by 80,867 units per day, or not quite 1 unit per second (more precisely, 0.93 units per second), assuming it actually means real time when it says "per day." However, watching the debt amount tick down, it's very clearly NOT ticking down at 1 unit per second.

So, there's not much point in buffing your productivity rate if you're already paying off your debt, other than to act as a cushion in case you make a bad decision that winds up increasing your maintenance costs or lowering your productivity. Then again, once your debt is paid, I have no idea how the productivity system works, so maybe it'll matter then.

I would suspect a rounding off issue.
I have a 200k maintenance and a 406k productivity. Sometimes it goes down by 1 sometimes goes down by 2.

The timer is wonky as hell because according to that timer my debt should have cleared at least ten times by now.

Update. My debt is decreasing at the rate my own math says it should be.
Meanwhile, every 24 hours the interfaces "prediction" reaches zero, then resets to 24 hours. So I think that calculation is bugged.
So, do your own math. Subtract maintenance cost from production cost. The divide total debt by the remaining production. The result will be the number of days (24 hrs each) it will take to pay off the debt.

My problem is that I added some expenses, so it's still going to be several days before I'm clear of debt.
