Unpopular opinion - Settlements remine me of bad mobile city builders
3 hours for one structure to be built? why? At that rate just let me build the structure, it would be finished must faster, since it seems the settlers are unable to build as well as players can.

I am at the point where I did everything I wanted to in the game, so i just have the game closed now watching youtube for 3 hours for one building, then who knows how long for the next one. AND! You can only have one building being built at a time it seems

Never mind. I forgot I was only adding pieces, not building the entire thing.

while you wait, you might want to try figuring out what Sean of the Murries meant by calling this main feature of the update, "the missing trope of the sci fi genre"

Naw, a mobile game would have a premium currency to skip the build timers. That would be the only reason there even were build timers. With this it seems they just wanted it to be something you have going on in the background or log in once a day to set up. I mean, Frigate expeditions take way longer than three hours, and given how much it's messed with them it's probably literally the same code.

Frigate expeditions are useless to me, Frigate fell useless all-together sadly. And yeah, however, this update is a mobile city builder where you can not speed up building times.

3 hours to go until my village becomes user interaction again.

It's almost like building things takes time :P

It is odd, because players can, for example, build a landing pad in a few seconds, but it takes 3 hours for a village with 5+ members.

The NPC races do have a certain observable dedication to standing around doing nothing, it probably impacts their productivity.

then, why not just let the players build the building? It would be faster, and would allow players to fully customize there towns.

Or you could just do something else ingame or out of game? It's not a main feature of the game, it's a side objective. It just sounds like you don't enjoy the game lol. You could go bounty hunting, work on your main base, increase your faction standing, do quicksilver missions all while you wait etc etc etc.

Again, settlements arent the main feature of the game, they're a thing you go back to inbetween other activities. It's like fishing.

I did everything that I wanted to in the game, this update only did this effect to me

Open game, start construction, quit game for required amount of time.

So it's like Frieghter missions. I don't hate it. Three hours does sound like a long time though in all fairness.

Sounds like you've done what you want in the game, maybe it's time to play something else? Life is too short to complain about new free features in a 5 year old game. Just my opinion, personally I find it really chill, idk, kinda like sitting and watching the sun set while the villagers walk about and do their thing inbetween planet hopping and resource gathering.

If they did not put a timer with the update, making is a mobile city builder phone game, then it would be fine.

Well, they did because they obviously do not want people fixating on this one feature and they want it to evolve slowly. Enjoy other features while you wait or turn off the game and do something else for a while. Try starting a new game!:steamhappy:
