Problems with Nexus Missions?
Until today I'd never done anything with the Nexus, I didn't even know what "Quicksilver" was, where it came from, or what it was for.

I ran two missions, Kill Pirates, collect Quad Servos...

I got a third, collect 12 ancient bones. I went to the planet, dug up the 12 bones with the counter on screen reflecting each one I dug up. When I got back to the Nexus the quest reset instantly. I had 14 bones in my inventory which were suddenly no longer counted. I switched them from one area of my pack to another to see if that mattered. About that time the countdown timer started. I left, flew back to the planet, collected two more, both of which showed on the counter but then real life called and I had to leave the game. When I logged back in I didn't have the quest and the one offered had changed. I do however, have an inventory jammed full of ancient bones...

Anyone else run into this?

You collect the bones and are then instructed to deliver them to a 'Contact' or 'Associate', nearby on the planet surface, before the mission is complete.

No. If you read the mission log (or press H to have it pop), you'll see that what you need to do is use your scanner to locate polo's contact to deliver the datas....

Once you do that you also usually get a message telling you that the sentinels intercepted your illegal transmission and then they start coming after you.

You have to do that a couple time before you get the location of polo's contact to deliver the datas.

What you ran into is a pebkac, read your missions logs next time.

The Nexus missions are not saved until you finish the mission....so you have to complete them in one go. If you close out your game, you end up back at the Nexus when you return.

You need to read the mission text. For several of the missions you have to scan for a turn-in location to visit before you head back to the anomaly.

OP, what you tell sounds like a disconnection at the moment when you debrief the mission, that's too bad. the first main Quicksilver mission can only be done while you are connected and as said above, you cannot save your progress in a Nexus mission so hurry up once you have finished and go debrief asap. If your connection fails just before you debrief you are out of luck, the mission will abort and you find yourself in the Nexus as if nothing happened...Also a connection failure can cause the game to crash while in a Nexus mission.
Because I only do these missions in SP I cannot tell how MP plays out and if there are bugs.

It is not a problem but currently the way multiplay Nexus missions work. Only your progress is tracked and not your position. During a a long Nexus mission it is good to make a manual save or autosave at some point. If then the Nexus mission has to be interrupted the next time you log onto the game you will be at the Anomaly. Also if at the time you had completed the mission (and made a save) you will be able to complete the mission at the Anomaly.

For example a death during the Nexus raid a depot mission will end the mission but if you had completed it before dying, you will be able to find and collect your grave and also complete the mission safely but the Mission and attacks by sentinels will have ended. If you quit after completion you appear at the Anomaly but can still complete the mission. Quitting a Nexus mission before a save or completion will result in the need to restart the same or similar Nexus mission at the Anomaly.

As for the bones you may be carrying, if you return to the system you collected them from (and it must be the same system), you could search for and find the Archive complex building that will accept them into their historical archives. Then you can trade the lucrative relics the archive gives to you in exchange, for a LOT of units.

I wasn't a fan of the nexus missions. I had issues with a few of them.

I did one where I had to construct a base and spent 15 minutes doing it until I got to a part where I needed to craft a part that I didn't know how to make.

There's some Nexus missions you should never do solo - build a base, quad servos, tame creatures
There's some that go much quicker with a fast exovehicle - ancient bones, rescue stranded lifeform
There's some that are super easy if you're geared - pirates, hostile flora, eliminate monstrosities, raid a depot
And then there's the planetary survey mission which takes a while but I like to do anyway for some strange reason

I frequently do the tame creatures solo. Fill your Nutrient Processor with plenty of raw bait ingredients. Craft whatever you need on the fly. Only takes a minute.

Build a base is easy. It provides the blueprints if you don't have them. I had never made a water base before taking one of those. Was cool. Very easy to do. Collect resources, place down what you are told.

Taming is easy, if you spend a few moments looking for a highly populated spot of animals. If you just land at a random spot, you are going to have a hard time of it. Look around for a good spot of animals before starting. Super easy and only takes a few minutes. It is actually very relaxing and I don't mind taking them now, if I am not in a rush. Just for a change of pace.

On a side note though, I tend to only take the destroy depot and pirate missions. I will fart around the anomaly and come back and check mission updates to see if one pops. I also will initialize a mission, but not start it. Just hang out and see if anyone else joins in. I have gotten to take a few newbies out on pirates before, that only joined because someone was already in queue and waiting. New players tend to that that from what I have seen.

You also do not need to be that highly geared to do pirates or depots. New players can do both easy.

Depot - Blast door, run in. You can no longer get hurt. Use terminal and wait for timer to expire before leaving. Now you have no worries while going to the next building :-)

Pirates - Just learn how to use reverse :-) Don't always fly forward. Hit reverse when a bad guy is in front of you, once they get in range. When they turn, you will easily keep them in sight. Pew pew them down and switch to next target.

mmm...
Sounds like I might not have been following instructions :). The bones were still in my inventory when I returned to the Nexus so I guess I didn't follow my orders. I did get several million units for them though.

I've just spent several hours working on a base. Quite frustrating because I was trying to make a single big room using the small components. There was a spot right in the middle that I kept getting an error telling me the build limit was exceeded. I could add more stuff anywhere I wanted except for that one spot.

I was building the base to see if I could make a decent looking garden/display. I've built bases before but they were all functional. That was before I learned about the 4.2 billion unit limit. Went to sell 1.6 billion worth of "stuff" and didn't get any units for it... I re-started the game with the intent of only building a base on my Freighter when I got one. Still had to drop a base computer next to a Minor Settlement though. I rattle on :)...

I did the Quad Servo one but going after an Operations Center which is guarded by two of the quads with a few additional ones as reinforcements before the Walkers come in.

Your contact on the planet surface only wants to scan the bones. You'll get to keep them under any circumstances. Always a good return on those missions.
