The client wants a picture of a marsh world.
Yeah, so, this quest. I followed it's directions and warped to the other system. Got quest credit for finding the "planet" (ended up being a moon), and took pictures of everything from every possible angle in and out of my ship. Went back to space and took pictures that way. I could never get credit for completion. What gives with this?

I've sometimes had trouble completing this type of mission myself. Not sure why. A mission I had trouble with asked for a volcanic planet.

My guess is you are still on the wrong planet. AFAIK there are no quest markers that indicate the exact planet you need to take the picture on.

For a picture of marsh world, you need to be looking for something like this:

These type of big trees can only be found on marsh planets, if I'm not mistaken.

Another annoying thing I've noticed lately about the "take a picture of a X planet" is that it wont always update unless you have it selected as the primary mission. (Since Origins).

Yeah, when I landed on the moon it gave quest credit for finding the planet and those trees are everywhere.

I think they have changed these missions to be a specific world and you should get an icon once you scan from space.

I did have trouble with a marsh world assignment. I had already scanned it from space before accepting the mission. I was not getting an icon and taking a photo on the obvious choice in system did not clear it. I just abandoned it. Had the same problem with volcano world photos and abandoned those as well.

It may be bugged, or just requires very specific course of events. I have done several successful photo missions, but have made it a habit to check in the station first before doing any planet scanning.
