I'm of your opinion I don't want to be spammed either I have everything in abundance myself.
HG should have an option to not get spammed automatically or just a button whether you want to accept or not.
I only say material spammer to them.
I don't like that and I want that you can refuse this, because HG must be improved.
I tend to agree with what your saying, and i think a lot ppl don't like it either, it is how you deal with it that matters.
when someone sends me something even if it is only 5 metal plates i could be nasty and create ill will, or instead be diplomatic and say thanks before quietly dumping it. or do what you do call them a spammer and walk away.
The issue is you can not assume the motives of the sending, off the cuff i can think of 3 reasons someone may send.
1. maybe it is someone who is sending something because they think they are helping,
2. newbies who get given stuff and think they should reciprocate the gesture in a small way.by giving something to someone else,
3. It could be the spammer.
Here is the rub how can you truly tell if its a spammer or just someone thinking they are being kind...
I found the players of this game tend to be decent fun filled ppl, i also think the spammer you mentioned are a minority ,and the rest are just misguided in their giving..
For this reason i do think a diplomatic approach is the best way to deal with situation like this....
so you can stop it right away and then realize how they call them misguided and not everyone wants to get their inventory stuffed I call them spammers because they don't even ask if you want to do that I often just turn off the multiplayer not only because of that but also because of the copycats who wait for it when someone comes back to the nexus to give a mission and quickly get on it but didn't help out then I turn off the multiplayer anyway.
I also give away some really expensive products to friends but before I ask if they want something, because not everybody wants to do that and work it out by themselves which I can fully understand.

Seeing as a mere six stasis devices would take two stacks, I think you are being too harsh.
Each time I've started a new character, I've been happy to get the occasional stasis device or stack of activated indium to take a little of the grinding edge off. Some people would rather go it alone. As I said before, I'm all for a setting to opt into or out of gifts.
This works, but it feels like the problem lies not in the etiquette, but the one-sided nature of the transaction in the first place. Without a mechanism to stop unwanted gifts, there will always be people unwilling to follow or ignorant of unwritten rules.
Where you can exchange suspicious packages and bounties on players with death sentences in five star systems.... or dump ferrite dust onto strangers drinks. At least you'd know cheaters would hang out there and could avoid going inside.
'You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious'... of duping cheaters. I think an ol' Jedi once said that...
Actually a bar for atmosphere would add some ambience to the Nexus or a space station and make the worlds feel more lived in and less of a game mechanic to visit and move on.
................
Most games do permit 'glitches' to exist because if a player plays so many games they might never return to a game if they can not find a means to catch up and stay around.
The flip side to tolerating dupers or glitches is that it helps the developers keep an audience. Duping is a bit of a PR exercise much like the Modding permitted. There is even mod designed entirely to cheat or duplicate anything called the NMS Save Game Editior. Maybe the current duping glitches just haven't been patched yet but if they will be I doubt they will be the last.
Most console computer games historically have always had cheat codes, especially the non monetised games. No Mans Sky duplication if it is 'designed' is a chore. A player can do it if they want but really there is no need to because the game works well without the need to and is a bit of a time waster when you could be out in the universe enjoying the exploration and game play.
Most dupers dumping stuff at the populated hubs like the Nexus I think mean well and often generous. And as someone mentioned above just delete any rubbish you don't want or put a bounty on their head....
Maybe a new Title like 'Glitch Duper' No Mans Sky Player, could be given to the player that lasts an hour or so. :)) Or maybe a silly helmet with two heads... But that would be a bit mean and not what NMS is about. The community is a nice bunch after all.
Personally I have very rarely received annoying trash from another player and just deleted anything not useful immediately. Trading with players I think works just fine. Freedom in the game is important and any trading restrictions limited to options chosen by the individual.
I mean the one with the mission squatters has solved HG now and that was even more annoying when a mission was blocked and he didn't do anything or did anything else.
This would be the best solution. Unfortunately, in games like this, they would probably just do away with trading all together rather than taking the time to build a proper trade interface or they would make a half a$$ed interface that could be easily abused and never go back and fix it.
