Underwater creature spawns
On a number of planets i've explored, I cant find the last 2 underwater/common/always active creatures. Shouldn't they be something that spawns all over if they are common? Do some underwater creatures only spawn in underwater caves? I've never seen anything spawn in an underwater cave so far....

Having a similar problem with underground creatures as well. Seems like they just refuse to spawn. Even when they are listed common and always active.
Try different times of the day/night... but it is also a known bug. :winter2019neutralbulb:

As the previous comment said, finding rare animals is sometimes depending on the time of day.
In addition, some animals only live in caves / indentations etc. (It has happened to me on land as well as in water. The animals only existed near and in the cave or other structure. Mostly some kind of crab)

@Dess No one mentioned rare animals in this thread.

underwater/common/always active. I've got three planets where I'm missing this creature. I've traveled to different parts of the planet and I've gotten in and out of the water to reset the spawns with still no luck. The latest patch claims to have fixed this but they appear to have it wrong.
Yeah, it's a shame. Multiple people are experiencing this bug/glitch.
Maybe there's an in-game workaround for it but I don't know what.

Yeah, im pretty certain its a bug now, 4 planets, all of the ones not spawning are underwater/common/always active. usually its 2 of them. I wonder if its trying to spawn them as cave creatures underwater, since most of the planets in question have underwater caves that no animals spawn in.

Rare in the meaning of a animal which you can't find ....
Just because something is common doesn't mean it's everywhere.

But yeah, it's easier to give up and say it's a bug.

Update: I can now 100% confirm it is a bug. I scanned an underwater crab creature as my last one on my list, and it immediately was classified as "extinct" even though it is walking around in front of me. and nothing else is spawning to replace it, so now im stuck at 6/7 creatures. RIP

Same problem here, i'm on an ocean planet and found 9/10 creatures and i can't find the last one (i've been looking for 5 hours).
I think they should developp something more dynamic for scanning mobs.
As someone else said this bug should have been fixed with the Halloween update, apparently it has been not! :nay:

Nope, not fixed. I started scanning creatures on a newly discovered planet, and wouldn't you know, 2 of them were supposedly "extinct". Discovery page says I still need to find 2 Underwater/Always Active/Common creatures.

Problem is, I DID find 2 underwater creatures, but they were those underwater crabs, and they are supposedly "extinct".

Now, I have been searching the waters for hours, left the system and came back, saved game then re-loaded it, still only seeing the same 2 "extinct" underwater crabs.

Very disappointing.

I could forgive it, and understand if the final 2 creatures were listed as "UN-common" or "rare", but they are listed as "Common", so you'd think they would be much easier to find.

Do not let your OCD or the perfectionist in you ruin your experience, just move on after a set amount of time.

In earlier versions, there was a persistent bug with "crab-like" creatures that often spawned in shallow water, but seemed to disappear when the player was near. You could often see red dots from the shore, but they disappeared when you plunged in to scan. That specific bug seems finally to be gone in Origins, but they seem to me to have added two new ones (!). The last aquatic creatures are almost always missing and so are the very rare underground ones. The first, I've seen no trace of, but the latter show up when I'm underground as an enigmatic red dot that's always 50-60 units away through sold rock. Tunnelling towards them never seems to work (perhaps the noise scares them off?). I just give up and go elsewhere. Haven't tried to report it as a bug, because I can't be 100% sure that the missing organisms aren't around somewhere, but also because I can't pin down when/why they don't appear. Annoying, but there are billions more planets out there.

Having the same issue. I have about 3 planets now where the last few creatures are SUPPOSED to be underwater/common/always active. Also having this issue with underground creatures. If this is a bug, it has literally prevented me from moving forward in my playthrough. :steamsad: I spend hours on end searching for them! I could just be getting really unlucky, but like.... they are supposed to be common. I hope this gets fixed soon.
