SOLVED: Extremely low sound quality using Sony WH-1000XM3

Hi,

I am currently using a Sony WH-1000XM3 headset when I play NMS which is connected by using bluetooth. The problem is that whenever I open a program that somehow uses microphone, the default audio device stops working and I have to change

From:
( ) - Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)
(*) - Headset (WH-1000XM3 Stereo)
( ) - Headset (WH-1000XM3 Stereo Hands-Free AG Audio)

To:
( ) - Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)
( ) - Headset (WH-1000XM3 Stereo)
(*) - Headset (WH-1000XM3 Stereo Hands-Free AG Audio)

The last setting has absolutely horrible audio quality.

My question is - is there any way to _completely_ disable the use of microphone in NMS? When I open other programs such as Discord, I can still use the main audio device until I join a voice chat channel. Then I have to change to the second option, until I leave the voice chat channel again.

This makes me think it's possible to find a workaround for NMS too if I could just completely disable the mic...

Any suggestions or ideas?

SOLUTION:
1. Go to device manager, find "Sound, video and controllers" devices as well as "Sound input and output". (Should at least be similar)

2. Disable all devices that has "Sony WH-1000XM3 Stereo Hands-Free AG Audio" in its name as well as microphone.

3. You will be prompted to restart your computer, I decided to do it later and it still works like a charm.

4. Enjoy 10000000000x better audio quality. :-)

Go into your audio devices in windows and disable it? It shouldn't connect to it automatically after that... Err at least my disabled devices don't.

Thank you for your reply Samwaaagh, unfortunately that's not my issue. The problem is that whenever I open the game I have to switch to the "Headset (WH-1000XM3 Stereo Hands-Free AG Audio)" option as the "Headset (WH-1000XM3 Stereo)" option stops working if there is a program using my microphone.

Sorry if my first post was unclear, its a strange question, I know...

EDIT: Oh, of course - you mean my microphone device. I will try and disable it. Sorry - haven't had my morning coffee yet. lol

This works for WH-CH700N too, but I loss the microphone

Yep, design issue. Old bluetooth only supports microphone in the low-bitrate mode, hence the low quality audio

Thank you very much! This solution really helps me with the games I am playing.
Actually, there was one advantage of such an approach... You very fast notice that the software are you using right now starts spying on you :)
