bonus when updating A class ship to S ?
Hi, i was searching everywhere to find the answer : "How works a upgrade ship? is the stats set up random or it only add bonus stats to the originals stats?"

I hope max stats A class ship stay at max stats S class when evolve...
Thanks.

It increase the stat bonus. And from my experiments, it's actually more beneficial to get an A-rank and upgrade it to S than get directly an S-rank (except for exotic obviously).

Whenever I get a new ship/multi-tool/freighter, I open it in the save editor to check the bonuses it has. I do it when I upgrade a multi-tool/starship too. And all those I upgrade to S-rank myself have way higher bonuses than those I got directly S-rank.
The dfference can be up to 10% for starships, for mult-tool the pistol I use for mining went up to getting a damage bonus of 15%, when pistols usually dont have damage bonus, and improving the scanner bonus to 100% (now it has a weird shape for a pistol, I wonder if it isnt classified as experimental...).

But this makes sense.... it's the same for frigates, it's better to get them C rank and upgrade them than getting high rank ones. Those you upgrade yourself get way better stats once maxed.

The original release of the game showed the exact stats, and this display was removed over the course of several updates.

Each class has a range of potential stats, with S-class having the greatest range. This means that S-class stats aren't always better than A or even B class, but just more likely to be better.

It all comes down to RNG.

Not sure why the developers removed the numerical stat display.

I though you were wrong here but yes it seems thats the shield stats of A class fighter ship is between 15-20% but only 15-25% for S class. I never noticed that.

But it's the only case where S class can be worse than a A class. (bug or forget?)

I hope A class ship with 19% has at least 19% when upgrade to S class is done... I need to do some tests with the save editor too.

another thing of note is that an A class ship caps out at 42+14 slots, while an S class caps at 48+21. no idea about the actual numbers for the lower classes, but I'm sure they're even fewer slots.

Yes, you can find haulers that break these rules, but they can't be upgraded further until their class is upgraded to the appropriate rank as far as I know.

Thanks, and is there a cap between the different height of ship? (at upgrading its inventory).

AFAIK, height or size of a ship has nothing to do with upgrading inventory. You can max out the starter ship to S class 48/21 if you want.

There was a time when size mattered, but that was before your could upgrade them at the station.

I've been wondering about that. I have a S class Explorer (38+12), but its base Hyperspace Range is only 101. Was wondering about looking out for an A with a better base, and then upgrading to S

Explorers and haulers are completely obsolete now.... explorer had the best hyperdrive range, but they barely can hit half the range of an upgraded freighter, and even so you rarely use the full range of any.... only advantage of haulers was inventory size, but now any starship type can reach max size with slot upgrades....

So now the only things that really matter are weapon damages and shield strength, so only fighter and eventually exotics are optimal choices.

It honestly doesn't matter because the game is stupidly easy you never really even need a B-class of anything. Survival is a joke after all.

Min-maxing is for autists like you and me who just want the best, just to have it. It's like collecting Pokemon cards. You know it's just cardboard but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is it fun to own it.

Or maybe because at some point there's nothing else to do with your units and nanites than trying to get the best stuff.

Picking the ships that has the most/only usefull stat bonus isnt min-maxing..... min-maxing is trying to get the upgrade modules that give the maximum stat bonus.

Iupgraded recently my Radiant pillar froù A to S, the amount of light year travel did not increase, stayed low 1530 maximum, but 8 extra slots and better guns.

There is one small way it still matters. The size and shapes on a ship make a difference to the number of slots it starts with, above and beyond the Class. Like a Class A Hauler with big box wings or cargo spheres will generally have more slots than one that's just a hull with no wings.

You still max at 48+21, but it can take less upgrades to get there if you start at 39 instead of 31.

After being away for over a year from playing, I wasn't aware of that. Good to know, thank you.

Okay, so I can be happy with the A:48+8 hauler I have, but never use.

(I've a Hauler (A:48+8, 150.5, 222.9, 125.9, 185.1), Fighter (A:35+7, 284.1, 197.9, 101, 440.8), Exotic (S:19+7, 229.5, 234.9, 519.4, 415.6), and Explorer (S: 38+12, 55.4, 205.3, 277, 426)

DP, Shield, Hyperdrive Range, Manouverability.

I've been largely sticking to the Explorer, as it had the best mix of cockpit looks and space (I prefer the exotic, but it can take sod all)

Yes. And it bugs me that my freighter is only C but I've made mods, and it has cargo so I can't possibly replace the damn thing.

After five jumps in space the fifth system jump will start a freighter battle. That occurs after minimum of three hours of gameplay. If you make a manual save before you jump then if you are not happy with the freighter stats reload and jump again to the same system or a different system if the look of the freighter does not appeal to you. The stats will be different with each reload.

After winning the battle the Captain of the freighter you saved will offer you the chance to buy or swap your freighter for the new one. Your storage crates will transfer(and any items stored in them), but any base or things on board your freighter do not transfer, so dismantle them first. Unlike a deleted planet base, where only half the resources making the items go into escrow storage for you to recall later.

What you could do if you feel adventurous is back up your game save and maybe use the Mod Saveditor to back up your freighter base and then you could simply restore it to your new freighter without having to painstakingly rebuild it. If the base is small don't use the mod because it would be quicker to rebuild it without fiddling about with files.

Way past 5 jumps, I'm about 65 hours into this game. But neither my physical base, nor my freighter are particularly built up. Haven't yet built the electro generator, or mining stuff.

That is REALLY useful to know that the storage containers transfer. The was my main worry about if I DID have the opportunity to change up my freighter. Thank you!

Wish I could use the save editor, unfortuantly I'm playing via GeForce NOW at the moment, so no editing for me. (If I could I'd give myself some nanites and salvage data)
