Is it possible to put an indium drive on a freighter?
They get a modest amount of tech slots, but it seems like next to no tech actually exists for the freighters. At the very least, I'd like to put an improved hyperdrive on it. Is it possible? They're not showing up in tech installation.

Freighters have their own tech for warp drive that you have to unlock that lets you go to blue/red/green stars. You can access it from the middle of the bridge.

Ah, gotcha. Thank you, I'd been assuming it was accessed the same way as for the starship.

When you enter the control room for the friehgter the circular console next to the fleet deployment has the upgrades option console. The tech tree uses salvaged frigate modules to unlock.

You can get salvaged frigate modules from:
1. Fleet missions
2. Nexus missions
3. Crashed freighters on planets.
4. Derelict freighters (which require a beacon from scrap vendor in station)
5. Derelict freighters (no required beacon) from extremely rare anomaly detector.

The frigate modules from derelict and crashed freighters are not a sure thing.

I think a fully upgraded class S freighter can do like 6000 light year jumps.

I get 99% of my Salvaged Frigate Modules by blasting away the cargo containers on other freighters. Don't attack the frigates or it will hurt you reputation. Just the freighters with the white freighter symbol that you can enter/land. Plenty of loot as a well. You will get chased by sentinel ships so best to blast and run for a planet or have the anomoly close by for a quick exit from the ensuing battle. It can get a little rough unless you have good shields.

That is a useful advice. Thank you.

Oh yeah, I forgot the "pirate method" lol. I avoided doing that so I forgot all about it.
