Multiplayer base building

Me and a couple of friends are trying to play "Multiplayer", mostly for the sake of building a base together. It was my understanding that it should be possible now in Multiplayer. As far as we can see the only thing that differs between multiplayer and normal mode is that you spawn in the same system as the player hosting the game. But if I recall correctly you did the excact same before if you joined a friends game. If my friend is offline, I can see his base as a teleport destination, but I am not able to actually teleport to it. How in gods name are we supposed to build and actually utilize a shared base if only the owner can use the teleporter? Am I missing something here or is the base building multiplayer part still a joke?

NMS is not true multiplayer. You can make edits to your friends base while they are in game, and vis versa as long as you both have network settings set properly. If your friend is offline you can visit the base as long as it has been uploaded. The same goes for your friends visiting your base. However there is no 'multiplayer base'. Each player still owns their own base computer and base ring.

If your bases are in very close proximity you could teleport to your base and then travel to your friends and take advantage of farming crops/resources, but you cannot share certain things such as storage containers. To build together you must play together.

The thing is I am not able to teleport to his base when he is offline, even when the base have been uploaded, nothing happens when choosing the base in the teleporter. We are aware of the non shared storage, would have been a nice feature thou to be able to share at least some storage.

Hmm, I seem to recall being able to do this in the past. Have you and your friends recently uploaded your bases? I know that for both myself and another player it can take almost a week for the upload to register on the server. Rather annoying, IMO. It never used to take that long in previous versions. Perhaps that could be it?

And yes, I would like to have a storage container that could be shared with friends as well.
