Why Do People Build at Crashed Exotics???
I find it extremely rude when players put down a base at a crashed exotic ship. This causes the ship to be un-interactable. Just a lovely image of what could've been. =(

A little message to the thoughtless jerks who do this: What is wrong with you? Are you so miserable that you must kill the joy of others? Were you not taught how to share as a child? Throw up a communication station instead - that's what nice, decent players do.

IIRC, if you "report" the base then it disappears from your instance and you can interact with crashed ships and so on as per normal. I think that the only restriction is that you can't subsequently build a base there, yourself.

This is the inevitable result of anonymous action without consequences.

Is there a reporting tool that can address this?

Edit: Sounds like people do this to help other players as well.

(confused Yy'Keen grumbling)

As Dashi mentioned, interacting with the base computer will have the option to report it. This causes it and associated components to disappear.
if you cannot find the BC, just use the quick menu and ´report´ the base

That's why I don't include the glyphs in any of my base pictures and rarely upload my bases. "Only takes one turd to ruin a planet." That's my quote of the day. : /

Players don't necessarily know that building a base there causes an issue with the ship, and might actually have built a base and uploaded so anyone else at the nexus could help themselves to a free ship. It isn't necessarily rude of the player. It's rude of the devs to have made that goof the ship.

Thank you @dashiichi! I found the base computer, reported base, reloaded, and hooray! Now have first squid ship!

People do this so that you leave with something nice when you visit their base. Or they do it to troll. One of those two reasons will be the case.

Usually I'll build a base near a ship (exotic or not) strictly as a "repair base", consisting of a small shack with a refiner, some power and a portal.

It's there so I can refine and craft all materials I need in order repair the ship, on site. I usually don't remove the base afterwards (or for that matter, upload it.)

If I ever do upload one of these, feel free to utilize the facilities I've left behind to make your life easier when repairing the ship.

How did you find this crashed ship?
Maybe they wanted to come back at a later point and repair the ship, so they put a base down so they can tele back to it. Don't just think about yourself lol.

As someone who built a base at a crash site, I had no idea this rendered the ship unusable until the base was removed. I found this crash site on my own. Its not like I followed someone else's coords and decided to block everyone else from taking it. Using someone else's coords from yt never worked for me anyway. The ship was missing or not what it was supposed to be so I started searching for myself.

Yep, that's why i always put a small base down at crashed ships. Easy spot to teleport back to, plus on-site mining and refining capability.

I'm not sure if crashed ships are persistent for all players or not, I reckon it's by design that other players can't interact with the ship to prevent trolls from stealing some one else's find. Maybe it's inconvenient if you find a ship out in the wild that's already claimed. Though honestly a crashed exotic will never be as good as an exotic you can find at a trading post unless you're really lucky, and there's no point getting angry about it when there's more than enough unexplored planets for everyone in the game. OP needs to chill lol.

When there is a base built at crash site, look for a NPC pilot and talk to him, i think you can claim the ship this way.
