Finding Rare Multi-tools
Without finding posts on forums or on the NMS Coordinate Exchange on reddit and portal hopping, is there a trick to finding systems that spawn Experimental / Alien Multi-tools in Euclid through exploration?

AFAIK, not really. Been playing 3500+ hours and only found a handful by exploring. Most were lackluster even though they were S class. Baby Alien pistols with minimal slots, and "standard" rifles with up to the max. I did see one Baby experimental pistol but unless you are looking for something like that it was not really awe inspiring.

Your results may differ. I have never devoted a lot of time to checking every weapon locker in every location.

I've tried jumping those portals for ships and multi-tools. I seldom find what I am told I will find. I think that with each new update, some of these things get switched. I just jump around and go look for myself to see what I stumble on.

I'll copy what Mr. Bufferlow said. I've done tons of exploring in multiple galaxies and make it a habit to stop in the space station of every system I visit to see what's in the multi-tool cabinet. I also check the cabinets of any outpost on the planets I explore. In all my travels I've come across about 10 Alien and exactly one experimental multi-tools. Could be bad luck, but for me Alien and even more so Experimentals are just not that common.

Now I've had much better luck with S-class normal multitools. I seem to find one a week or so.

Yes, but you need to read the forums on how to get them to spawn. The short answer is every system (yes every system regardless if it has 6 planets) has a potential of 7 different skins for MT's. SO that means when you first warp in is one variant. Then go to each of the 6 different planets save, reload and check the station cabinet again. Now I can hear someone say but this system doesn't have 6 planets.. Yea note I said about reading the forums... Anyways that answer is to setup a base and teleport to that planet that is numbers you are missing and then port back to the system again to check the cabinet again.(I don't think it requires a save and reload hence check the forums to make sure) How do you get the planet #? Easy open up photo mode and it is the first glyph they are in numeric order of 1-6. Meaning if it is the rising sun it is 1, so on and so forth. Remember go read the forums they will explain this much better then I.

IS this a lot of work, yes but how bad do you want a MT. ME PERSONALLY, I just look till I find an alien MT and then just pay to upgrade it to S, and pay to max out the slots(actually i do factory runs but you get the point). I usually have a 2nd MT that is S rank POS for when I go through the center of the universe.

Just load up on warp fuel and start warping around. I spent some time recently looking for travelers to get the glyphs on one of my saves, and I would say I found an alien or experimental multitool in 1/20 space stations. I didn't find any s-class, but they can be upgraded if you find one that you like.

Found a experimental with some crystals (purple) on white gun. Found it in a settlement randomly B class but now their are ways to upgrade them. I got so excited I exchanged my normal that was decked out rather than just getting the new one, using the old one until i got some things installed.

Finding those rare multi-tools especially "alien" types are a 'hit or miss". Of all the hours I've played this game, I never came across one until recently in a case in the same starter system of Expedition 3. It was a "alien" A class. I had enough units so I bought it to add to my collection. Another time or 2 looking in the same case had either nothing in it and then it did have a multi-tool, but not "alien". It was a class I wanted so I exchanged it with the tool that we started off with in Expedition 3.
There's a system not far from Expedition 3 that has Alien "C" class multi-tool in the case at the space station. It may be still there.!

Finding Alien/Experimental MTs isn't totally random, there is method to the madness as per Raven Claw's earlier post but it does involve spending a 'lot' of time and dedication to the task of checking the available pool of MTs that each system has to offer.
Then you can go further down the rabbit hole to try to find an S-Class cabinet in the system to allow you to 'manipulate' a choice from the pool to that cabinet (not so important now that we can upgrade MT class).

if proof is still needed that it's not just random check youtube for some hunters who via their methods regularly find special MTs
Austintacious (imho the most prolific 'special' MT hunter...also posts 'finds' on NMSCE)
Q Ball Gaming
Lavalamp64 (also shares on KJ PC Gaming's channel)
Manic Miners

Personally i'm still too happy getting distracted left and right to dedicate the time/effort/learning needed to 'hunt effectively but if it might be your type of thing try getting in touch with Austintacious either on the....
No Man's Sky coordinate exchange reddit (NMSCE)
or
His youtube Channel
to share his 'MT hunting #101' wisdom....maybe you can get him to make a guide.

NB. the frontiers update affected specific MT placements for a lot of finds so many MT's posted on NMSCE/youtube have moved and need to be 'rediscovered'
