Black Holes always take you closer by a few thousand light years. Pay no attention to the images, just look at the distance from the core.
If you like to use your freighter to head to the center you should really consider upgrading. I jump to the core a couple times a week on average and get 6,300+ ly per jump.

If you do the arithmetic, even at 6300 ly per jump, you are still about 111 jumps from the center from a probable spawn point. Even if you only spend 1 minute in a star system before jumping again, that would be about 2 hours of solid jumping over and over again.
Upgrading a freighter, of course, takes a lot of time itself. Several hours at least. A regular ship takes less time to upgrade, but you will max out at about 3000 ly per jump. To get that the base hyperdrive range needs to be at least 180 ly.
Taking a relic portal to the center, however, only takes seconds.
