I've noticed this. Is that because shuttles/haulers tend to have the most inventory?
Any hints where they are plentiful?
Rich systems with 3 stars are a no brainer, but are there any star types, industries or race that influence their frequency?
For example it seems due to the fact that the Gek are mostly traders, good hauler ships are more common in their systems.
Thanks!
I agree with this.
Last ship I needed to pour storage augmentations into, I used glyphs to a system that had exotics come into the space station on first wave. Now when getting my ships for myself I hold to finding them on my own, but I decided to try out this method just for storage augmentation. While the exotics didn't always come in on the first wave, they often did. Exotics give 1-3 storage augmentations every time. In an hour I got 33 storage augmentations. The exotics ranged from 15/6 to 20/9. The cost was about 6 million up to 16 million. Since you lose about 10% of the value when you scrap a ship, you want to go with the cheapest exotics. I actually passed on the top exotics due to the cost. I think the total cost for me was around 25-30 million which when you consider buying an augmentation is 50 million is quite the deal.
10 stacks of cobalt and a few systems later and you'll recoup ANY units you lost out on while scrapping ships. "unless you're rich" isn't an issue if you have the right strategy.
At least that's how I've done it at the start of games.
For later ships, frigate missions will give you one augment a day or so, plus many millions of units, and of course you can scrap if you want to.
7 are shuttles
3 each are fighters, explorers, and haulers.
1 is exotic (always S-class)
the remaining 4 are fighters in Vykeen systems, explorers in Korvax systems, and haulers in Gek systems.
Another way to think of it:
7/21 are shuttles
7/21 match the race
3/21 + 3/21 are against the race's preference
1/21 is exotic
I have got storage augmentation from scrapping c class ships. When I search for wrecks I will get one or two augmentations out of 10 planetary charts. I haven't been able to determine what does and what does not. A class c fighter got me one and a class b shuttle did not.
I do you think you're going to get more purchaseing A class shuttles and explorers. Not sure how much more yet
Haulers, and any high class ship tend to have a lot more storage and storage tends to be what raises the price of a ship. When you scrap a ship, you get "scrap" for the value. While a storage augment isn't actually high value, it is probably calculated as a high value item or at least a very rare item.
To increase your chance of getting a very rare part, you want a scrap job that needs more parts or more expensive parts. The more parts, the more chances it will roll a storage augment for you.
It can happen from c class, but you get more chances or better chances if you use higher class ships with more storage slots.
