Stair/ramp snapping

Why is this such crap? Getting stairs to attach where you want them to and facing the right way is stupidly difficult. I have no idea why the base building system thinks that attaching stairs so the bottom is literally up against a wall is good, but refuses to let me turn them to attach to an upper floor. I end up having to manually place like 75% of my stairs and it's so aggravating!

try using the free camera for some reason the stair snapping seems to work better if you have a angle looking a bit down towards where you want to place them.

Atleast that is what helps for me.

Trying to get stairs to work, and failing, was the last straw in my short lived venture into building something more than a utilitarian base. I rarely build using any structure other than cylindrical/square rooms, straight corridors and landing pads. Because, at least so far, I can rely on those connecting without tearing my hair out.

Its a PITA for sure. Use build camera. Place a floor panel so that the stairs attach where you want them, then delete the panel. Sometimes I leave the panel.

I'm having an extremely frustrating time myself trying to work with the stairs. The narrow one is worse than the wide one. Even the free camera isn't helping.

Stairs! Who needs stairs? Look, we are all just pretending here. I think we should just extend that pretending to stairs snapping to a logical place such as doorways, decks and floors.

The wide stairs won't snap to the middle of of large floor but two narrow stairs will.

I discovered that the narrow stairs will snap to the middle of a large floor piece and the edge of a small one. The large (wide) stairs would snap to the large floor piece. (Though both of those took multiple tries and was still frustrating.) I've even had trouble snapping the floor pieces together - especially the small ones. I'm a base builder and its a main enjoyment for me and while I'm very pleased with more goodies to build to our bases (and of course, I still want more!), I have found this update to have significantly increased my frustration with doing so.

So for getting a narrow stair attached to my second floor, I had to use a small floor piece and then I could attach it, and then I had to build around it with other small pieces to fill in.
