"Short of killing them all, the best way I have found to deal with predators around a base is to build a feeder and harvester filled with the predators prefer. This will keep them from attacking you."
Spoken by a real animal (chipmonk
When I am hunting storm crystals and the animals seem to be be on a specific mission to eat me annnnd the storm is always about to end, I chuck 'em a pellet of two and I am left free to steal the next crystal. Mwhahaha
Spot on
But when you are building stuff and they are HUGE animals and they go stumping about in circles I find at times after going crazy, as the image keeps moving with their vibrations, you just have to slot 'em :(
So that tells me that building a floor under the terrain and raising walls above it as a sort of fences then resetting the terrain, would probably stop spawns and keep walking mobs out.
I may try this sometime.
Another thing, almost anything with a physical attack can hit you through a floating floor for sure. I have only ever been followed inside a building by the flying sentinels. I was getting hit through the floor by quads yesterday in a base with a suspended floor. The walkers were wading through the floor like water. Walls (extending down from the platform) not reaching the ground stopped the walkers but the quads went under where they could.
