Power Grid Overloaded..
How do you fix it?

I have 450 kp being used and 1250 available.. so how is it overloaded?

Add more battery cells for storage and seek out additional supply Like power hot spots, or solar panels

It turns out the batteries mis report the usage demand when empty. I added 2 more generators and now I'm at 1450/1650 ish.

storage is so important because they charge from generators even when you're not there so always have more cells than you need, same as gens too

so IF I have an EM power hot spot I can't just link those generators into my base with no batteries? cause this is my problem:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2614779924 now this battery is connected to my 4 em generators that are link into my base directly. This base has 12 Ore extractors set on an indium deposit & 4 gas extractors on an Oxygen point & has 1 square building with 3 round buildings & 12 bio-domes so this is my base & in the picture provided my base is good for power Yet its overloaded but these numbers say other wise what should I do?

in the display the first number seems cut (maybe is 1486/1066) and then you need about 500kp extra power, then it will work.

...Hello games if this is the case FIX THIS ♥♥♥♥

That's what it was I built & linked in 1 more EM generator & the 486kp updated properly to 1,486kp... I literally tried EVERYTHING Else except adding a new one of these expensive generators.

It looks like your batteries are not connected to your power. If you're using solar cells you need to connect a power line to one of your batteries and then you need to chain your batteries together.
SumGumption Sep 29, 2021 @ 6:34pm
You also need to keep your power sources in one location and batteries packed in another, unless you're using the prefabs. You can't have them scattered about. I don't know if this is what you have done but I found out that you can't scatter them.

I also see only one battery. You can use up to 3 batteries per one solar panel.

I seem to have a good outcome by chaining the power sources as well and then chaining them to the batteries. You then only need one leading wire from one battery to the building/object to be powered.

You do not need batteries if you have EMG on a hotspot. The batteries are for solar primarily so your base is powered at night when the solar shuts down.

yeah I now use batteries as power monitors in my prefab lol just 1 placed in the entrence unit with my Gek Overseer just so I can see my power grid without needing to travel out to my EM hot spot. TBH my base location is perfect its roughly 175u from a B class EM spot, an A class O2 spot, & a C class Indium node just the basic mats I need to build stuff. + now that i know of this error in the power grid display I'll keep an eye out for my next base build on an activated indium node

As a rule I connect every power generator to every power generator around it. So i am using the EM producers not only are they all connected to each other multiple times but i also have them multiple connected to the structures I build them in.
Namely glass cubes.

I also connect a number of batteries....sometimes to extend my cables. Also to keep track of power totals.

And i always connect one solar device even if i am not having to use them.

That is because it tells me how long until its dark or light.
<Wish i had a clock in game of in game day light time i could look at easier.>
{sigh}

On a Base with solar panels, i have tons of batteries too, but also typically a bio fuel device as well to kick start it....as i realized i would need tons of energy to keep things going when there was no more day light.

As to the Ops issue:
1. Either you are not reading the number right....as in the amount being used is missing a number.<i doubt this>

Or
2. you don't have that battery hooked up the main power supply.

Batteries tell the entire power supply....not what its hooked up to.
So that looks like you do not have that battery hooked to the main part of the grid for the base.

In this case i am guessing you did something silly....like powered a bunch of items and buildings....and then created say a solid cube or space port and built more stuff on the other side of it with out realizing you where not powering your new structures...because the solid cube or space port wont connect the power between the structures...nor will the basic panels.

My advice to the thread creator is:
check you lines, red means no power and blue means powered.

Just because you build an EM power plant on a structure or in it does not make it give that structure power. Always use extra power lines.

I highly stress that to everyone use extra power lines.
Base loading when you arrive or load in will not load everything right off and if you do not have enough electric lines things wont be powered.
Yes its very silly.

oh yes you can get that sort of bug too having no power when it says you have tons if you build em generators super far away as well.
As in connecting via lines chaining back to you from a super long distance.

That is also a loading thing and the easy fix is use batteries in between.

There is a limit to base length.....i have reached it a few times.....i am not talking the normal one....i am talking the one where you reach the limit and build more....extending your range.....there is an actual limit it wont let you go out further.

I found this out when i tried to extend way super far....to an Alien landing outpost...daisy chained teleporters to get there....and had to have power reach super far.
Ended up having to use independent solar generators and Batteries, just to keep the system running so i could get there. Ended up having to make another base, lol...whihc the game didnt like me connecting things together. Ie I could not share power.
But i could teleport there...lol
