My Freighter Is Gone, I Guess Time to Uninstall NMS

Is this a new bug?

I had a freighter but invested no time to upgrading it. It was a B class with a lot of storage so I had a lot of resources save in storage in it. I try recalling my freighter while in space and it is dim out. The game tells me I have no freighter.

The bad thing and it just might get me stop playing NMS with over 500 hours into the game, is that I had parked two ships in it. My first ship and a hauler. Both were fully upgraded and now "PROOF" they are gone too. I went to my base landing pad to see if I could recall one of these missing ship and I could only recall the missing one.

I spend a lot of hours upgrading them to the max, "S" level. No they are gone. I now feel like what next one of my bases that I had spent hours upon hours are to disappear too.

The contents of the storage isn't gone. Build them anywhere else and you'll have access to them, as for the freighter.. and ships. No idea.

Are you staying in an RGB star system?
Freighter can only be called out to the yellow star system unless special technology is installed.

And when you go into inventory there is no 'Freighter' tab?
But what resources did you have in your freighter that that makes you want to quit after 500 hours? Even for your ships. don't upgrade them, go to a wealthy system and wait for S class ships to land and then buy them. If money is an issue, build an activated Induim farm, with them you can make over a 100 million every time you log in. Or just do cobalt flooding.

I guess you are in a non-yellow system and so you cannot summon your freighter. Go in a yellow sun system and summon it.
In order to call your freighter from blue, green or red systems you need special upgrades to install.

However in this case the message should read "you cannot summon your freighter", it doesn't read that you don't own one.
Then, there is the possiblility that you have visited a freighter without getting it by chosing the wrong dialogues, that's a pain but it's possible, especially in old game versions with the bugged dialogues (which are corrected now.). If this is true then you should still get the next freigter for free. Try it.

Freighters cannot be summoned to anything but yellow stars until you have upgraded their hyperdrive tech appropriately. It can look like a bug if you don't recognize freighters have the same issues as small ships: you need special upgrades to go to all types of stars. The only system all freighters can go to naturally are YELLOW stars.

I think some are missing my points.

For me NMS is opened ended. The player decides what path they want to take and how long they want to do it. I have S class exotic ship and I was using that ship was currently being used. Lucky? I did not park that in the freighter and was using one of the other ships. If I lost that exotic and it took me hours to find one I like it appearance, I would have been pissed and would have uninstall NMS and would never even made this post on steam.

I have three major bases. Tons of credits/nanites so this is lost does not hurt even puts a dent in my NMS wallet. What is does do put a dent in play time which I consider that most valuable thing with games. So I wasted hours (days really) to accomplish something that I chosen to do that is now gone. From the time to finding a B class freighter will large amount of storage. For the time to find a crashed hauler that was S class and it looked sexy. The time to create the credits/nanites to pay for the upgrades to the two lost ships when I started this current play through.

I have put up with some NMS bugs like when I would exit my ship was ejected high in the sky instead and if not time correctly with the jet pack I would die and loss the resources I was carrying. It is why I could not play the Permadeath mode which is my prefer game mode.

But now do I want to invest any more time in a game that I could loss my goals. No I going to stop playing now. Come back to NMS maybe in six months from now and hopefully this current lost will not taste so bad.

As others have said, try going to a system with a yellow star and summoning it there. You can't summon your freighter to other types of stars without some upgrades.

Could also have a look at the save file with the editor and see what it has in it for a freighter.

Seriously, there is no way to lose a freighter unless you seriously damage your save file somehow.

AND YES... go to a yellow system and summon it.

Some mediocre mods could also have adverse effects on in-game issues as well, something to consider if you are using mods.

If you play a game for 500 hours and don't even take the time to make frequent save backups and backups of mods then sorry to say, you are asking for it.

But just use the save game editor and see if that can fix your problem.

2 ways to lose a freighter: One, you reload a very old manual save, this will undo everything you did since you did save taking you back in time. Two, you have used the save editor badly, I'll dismiss this in OP's case. I'm not aware of any mods that would delete your freighter in the savegame be it on purpose or after removing said mod.

Although the game usually prevents you loading newer games in older versions (informing you, "incompatible save"), sometimes it can be done in which case you can also get some interesting results like being flung out of half a freighter into space where you can make like a meteor and fall to the nearest planet.

your "points" have been addressed. several responses have told you exactly what you need to do, to get your freighter. if you can't be bothered to either read them, or try them, that does not suggest anyone has "missed" your point.

and just so you know.

there is nothing to fix here. this limitation on where you can summon your freighter has been in the game since freighters were introduced. if you don't have the technology upgrades to support different colored system types, you can't make your freighter appear there. freighters without specific upgrades can only be summoned to and warp into yellow star systems, by default. the issue isn't NMS here. the issue is you not knowing the mechanic, it's limitations and the upgrades to change that.

six months later.. you will find yourself probably blaming NMS again. when it's you who should take the time to read and better understand what people are trying to help you with.
