Thanks

Just go to space and drop back in a polar region.

Look at the latitude longitude on your ship. To the left I think. The first number is latitude. If positive you are in the north. Negative, in the south

A simple stupid trick is to look at the little locator on the planet in the discovery tab. It is actually pretty accurate for N/S orientation.

Then how do you know you're south in the first place? You just debunked your own myth.
But seriously, I've tracked down loads of those last few species and I can tell you they are purely NOWHERE. No seriously they are no where. You have to just keep moving and letting new areas spawn fauna and flora until it becomes SOMEWHERE. This may seem strange, but true RNG isn't possible to code. No game really has it, just an algorithm to simulate it. There is no way to tell a protocol to create something random. True RNG code would require an outside source that it didn't create like a frequency or noise decibel value, anything really. This is why so many times you question the validity of RNG. Its got enough random in it to do the job, but games where players gather large amounts of "this" to purchase or craft large amounts of "that" often find odd or strange patterns to multiple instances. When the raid boss drops 4 of the same thing type of strange. The point is sometimes results can get wonky to be scientific. Its best to stop and try later or reload the game and put yourself in a different instance with the game. It may not help, but at some point you are going to be willing to try anything to see a change.

You just have to wander and wander. Sometimes there is a reason. Once, it took me over a week of wandering before I found the last species, which was common ground by the way. The "Notes" in the information page said it "sometimes will appear invisible".

If you are below 2000u in your ship you will see latitude and longitude. If on foot press F (PC).
