Submitting items to Colossal Archive Building

What does submitting items(Like the fossil, biological and cultural items) actually do? I'm just a little confused about it. Is it worth doing?

Only 'samples' or historical documents can be submitted. You get better artifacts in return that you can sell afterwards.

it seems every archive has a certain item associated with it:
it turned two different relics worth 617k and 1.2mil into EXACTLY the same item worth 1.9mil.

It's is also supposed to give increased standing, but that's not working at present - it looks to be patched in the experimental branch, so should be fixed in the next minor update

I can't do it at all. All the options are greyed-out when I try.

Even when I have a full inventory of all three rarities of Ancient Bones.

Is it not for Ancient Bones, then?

it's for the stuff you get from the crates at ancient ruins (unlocked with three keys)

apparently archives will also turn items worth 1.6mil into items worth 120k... probably not worth it until it's fixed, you know, the usual.

I kept some "unknown cache" items that had very little value...thinking maybe they could be turned in. Apparently not, at least if you switch systems. As they stand, I found two scientific items on existing fauna..each on a different planet. They were worth pocket change when I went to sell them...so thought maybe they are artifacts...but apparently not.

I would never try it with a yellow item. Heck no. Probably only purple or blue rarity.

You are right, I've moved from a Korvax into a Vy'keen system and I had to submit totally different items. In the same system the requirements should be the same for different Archive building from what I've seen.
