Yes you can. You can use save editor as much as you want to. You can give yourself whatever you want to including QS through the editor. There is no and will never be any kind of punishment for using the save editor in NMS. Neither does NMS have any kind of cheat detection as that would be just silly. NMS can be played as you want to. If you do not want to grind or do the lame community missions, then just use the editor. The save editor/cheat mods has been used since the game was launched and it is perfectly fine. What you do on your save game does not affect other people especially since multiplayer can just be turned off in the settings. The cheat you use has only an effect on your game and that is it. The only people that will complain about this are the people who play "pure" and hate the thought of cheating and want everyone else to also be a purist. These people try to make you feel guilty for using cheats as it does not fit their views on how a game should be played. Forget these fanatics as that is just what they are. NMS allows cheating on your own save file, go crazy if you want to.

You can use a save editor to fix error of cheat. But if you are going to cheat why bother playing the game?

i didn't plan on cheating for the hell of it.
i only wanted to use it to get myself unstuck if that ever happened.

for getting unstuck just do savegame backups before starting a game... no need to cheat.

If you like self cheating - I can only say: do it. Assessing such behavior is not my business, but I do not want anyone to brag about the things obtained thanks to this applet.

that is a grand response.
i don't plan on doing it to get ahead or get cool stuff. that's boring unless i worked for it.
all i wanted was an escape option without being forced to start over.
give myself resources to refuel my ship if i get stuck somewhere or justcant get out.

Cheating is gaining an unfair advantage over another player. You cannot cheat in a single player game.
You spent the money, play the game in way that brings you pleasure.

i cheat every time i would die and death would be a cause due to game bug, cheat i do is superfast hitting esc key, then i leave the game and just reload, why would i die from a bug and lose 130++ hour save game where i have everything

Or reload to reset the spawn of that "perfect" ship/freighter...

But do not EVER mention using *The Save Editor*. Gasp! :steamsalty:

But reloads supposedly don't work anymore.

You can reload scum, use mods, or the save editor. NMS is a NON-COMPETITIVE mostly SINGLE PLAYER game. Who would know? Who would care?

Maybe not. But the point is that many who oppose the editor had no problem save scumming.
I'm a stickler on cheating but using the editor to fix a problem of the game or to enhance the game, I've adapted to. I used to "sell" crashed ships with it as well as mod my ship (deducted huge amounts of cash for it) and move tech. Now it's in the game. Awesome! As for save scumming, I tend to look down on it but can't say that it's wrong. Just sits wrong for me since time travel is not a thing in life or NMS but a 454 in a Monza, I've seen it irl. So fix, mod, sell, enjoy.

Depends on how you use it really. I just use it to reverse bugs or restore lost items due to a bug like an admin on an MMO server would. Just now, I'm seeing If I can remove a freighter I have, but never bought or accepted in-game. Weird bug. It doesn't even have a hyperdrive, and like 10 slots for storage. Eeee.
