Repairing Damaged Machinery

I'm just starting the game and I guess I need a little hand holding. I found damaged machinery that needs repair. I have the component that's needed now, how do I fix the machinery? I'm playing on PC. Thanks for your help.

Just drop them in the correct slot. They will only give you some nanites, so I don't feel it's worth messing with them.

Damaged machinery can sometimes give you an S-class upgrade module. Worth going through them when you are starting out. To "repair" them you simply need to remove the item blocking the function in the pop-up. Either move it into your inventory or hold middle mouse button on it to discard the stack.

For the starter quest you need to actually repair the one at artemis' ship.
