Found one on the very first planet after the update. Definitely need to be looking for desert-like planets.

You can find sandworms on almost every planet type. Might be a little bit rare though.
I wanna seem em too. And tornadoes.

1-Play in normal mode
2-Find tornado
3-Ride tornado, get tossed and die
4-Pick up grave marker and ride tornado again

Anyone know if this planet description of "worm-ridden" means there are sandworms there, or if it's just another random biome description that doesn't mean what it suggests?

What we need to do is start getting a large group of players, maybe have someone start a thread about it. Where we start naming some of these planets for the special attributes they have.

Tornado World. And Worm World. Or Dune. Call every planet that has giant worms Dune.
Can tornadoes mess up your base? I've seen them but always stayed away

They tend to be common for me on grassy planets, maybe coincidence but see them often, I have a base in a misty planet and see them every fifteen minutes or so

I've seen them 4 times since the update. Can't scan it although it has a red dot. Maybe I'm not fast enough. No tornadoes yet.

I've seen them twice, and I started playing the game a little over a week ago. It was 5-6 days before I saw my first one.

The real problem is, how the heck am I supposed to scan them? The scanner won't pick up the signal, I guess because it's too far.

They can be on any type of world. We don't know what triggers them.

I've seen them on multiple planet types, including lush, desert, volcanic and boiling. I don't think you can scan them, at least I haven't been able to.

found my first sandworm on a toxic planet, tried to scan it, but it wouldn't scan; however, it did say that it is a "giant parasite"

Guess Im lucky, ive seen them thirty times minimum in my now finishes 20 hour play through, they scan as immortal, you dont get anything for scanning them and they dont add to the bestiary, for those wondering, no, they dont hurt you, they do scare the crap out of you, ive had them often pop up where im standing, no they dont damage bases, although i havent been in a base when one spawns but been very near, they dont seem to clip any player made things

You can't scan rock mimic spiders, either.

Although you can chase and kill rock mimic spiders.
