So where is all the salvageable scrap?

So I land on a planet that says it has salvageable scrap. I get out of my ship. Open my analysis visor. And there is nothing, at least relating to salvageable scrap. I know the stuff can be worth a lot of money. So I'm wondering how I go about finding it.

Yeah, already did that once and still nothing. Guess I'll keep hopping around unless anyone knows a better way to find them.

You're better off going into space and mining gold then selling it at the space station until the gold rates fall. I did that for my first 7 million and then I began trading between stations. Right now that's all I do in the game - trade.

Some planets have a lot of scrap sites some have very little. I think scanner upgrades effect the range you detect them so if you do not have good scanners finding them is much harder.

Pick a direction walk 100-200 meters then scan again, rise and repeat.

Each planet seems to seed differently. I have a base on a storm crystal planet. They are everywhere in clusters of 4 or 5. I dont even bother if it’s only one or two.

THIS! Yesterday, the same happened to me, first stop, saw nothing, only one buried...
So got into my fighter and went a bit south, landed, looked and still nothing.
Third stop was the jackpot: I found one, and after picking that up, I saw another, and another, and another. Finally, it was a chain of seven and then i as loaded.... earned 14 million!

Tip on finding salvaged data.

If there inhabitants on the planet, namely the Gek,Vykeen and Korvax. If you can spot one of these on the planet, then theres salvaged data on that planet. You can see them on trading posts, minor settlements, and observatory aside from the space station.

theres no salvaged data on empty or abandoned planets.

OP is not looking for Salvaged data; he is looking for Salvageable scrap, to make money. (like ancient bones)
