How to "pick up" the portable refinery in the first mission(VR)

Hi,

I'm playing the game on VR and i got to the point where i fixed the first ship and the game tells me to pick up the portable refinery. It tells me to press touchpad down, but that button = jetpack thrust. I tried all other buttons on my controllers and none worked. At the moment its a blocker and renders the whole game unplayable.
Im using windows mixed reality headset and controllers.

I haven't played NMS in VR in quite awhile, but IIRC you use the grab button on your wand and while holding it down bring your hand up and behind your shoulder.

Tried it....didnt work.
So far i have had to leave all portable things behind and build new ones

I'll have to get back in VR and try it again. I have done it and have WMR also. Unless the mapping was changed recently... hope not.

I'm playing on WMR too and it turns out that clicking the right touch pad downwards is double bound to jetpack and picking up.
If you are brave and stay on the button, you will pick it up right before you pass it.

On Rift controllers it's press down on the right stick and hold it as if it was a button, not down as in movement. If you have a touch pad instead of a stick, uh, I don't know.

I played on WMR for a while and are you using the wmr controllers with the trackpad? If so that button gets wonky and can be re binded to something different in SteamVR. I had to keep smashing down on that trackpad position and sometimes it would work

I've had the same problem a few times with the refiner, was never able to pick it up so I left it there and one day poof! ot worked that's NMS for ya lol

You probably already solved it however there is allocation buttons for the VR as well, same as ps4 would have control keys and pc does as well, ie. can allocate WASD to arrow keys......here is something to refer to. its a video i found on how he did it......not sure if it helps your situation.....
