Nothing, sometimes the salvage you acquire is broken, and you have to get another one that works. I had a situation recently where I had to go through 3 salvage sites before the required part worked. Once you get one that works you go back to your ship and you get the location for the decryption beacon where you get the decryption key. Travel back to the crash site once you have the decryption key and give the replacement item to the stranded traveler/korvax/gek/vikeen. You will then you will get the mission complete message.

Did you make sure to activate the item that you received? You have to go into your suit inventory and (on PC, default keyboard layout) use the E key. Activating the component gives you the location of the decryption site, which you then travel to. You then follow the on screen instructions and get the key. Then you travel back to the crash site and help out the traveler.

I can do you one better. I got the computer, found the decryption key after 5 or so burred tech sites, then returned. I can't give it to the life form.. the menu item [1] Give part (! Navigation Computer" is grayed out. Love these bugs.

The 3 times I did it in 3 runs of this Expedition, it was your usual "Stranded Motorist" next to a Crashed Ship. Ship is broken, fix it. Mission Accomplished. You guys must have run into one of those "Stranded Motorist" quests where you gotta go DO something rather than fix the ship. I would try ONCE per system, from the Space Station, and then move on.

I've had times when the first salvaged item was good, and other times where I've gotten at least 20 broken salvaged items before finding a good one.

And for a while I had one where the guy needing rescue was buried in a cliff. So I had to dig him out first.

You can't analyze the module if there are any corrupt sentinels around. When you find one, make sure you deal with all corrupt sentinels in the area, and THEN analyze it.

Dude I've gone through 20+ of them without finding a working one. Just avoid these missions all toegether, or if you end up doing one abandon if it does'nt work the first time.

Also @HG, dont make ANY new content, just make what is in the game work please.

I did this mission yesterday. It took many locators to figure this out.
But you need to activate the locator within scanning range of one of those floating trade terminals, that can be found in the wilderness randomly.

I think most Nexus missions are a waste of time. The rewards need to be way better for the time spent on them.

I think killing the infestation horror, might be the fastest one. But if I'm not offered nanites, i'll pass. Unless the 2nd reward is something rare.

Oh it might be best to find the terminal first before you use any locators.

As I said above:

I dealt with all of the sentinels every time, but still went through 20+ of the things before giving up on the mission entirely. None of them worked. Possibly related, the system I was in only had two barren/anomaly planets, so there weren't any regular buildings. I tried it on both planets, same thing. But maybe you'll have better luck on a different planet, if the RNG hates you less.

There are two different missions. One is a normal everyday encounter where you find a stranded NPC and fix the ship on the spot. The one being complained about is the mission from the Nexus which requires much more work. It seems to be bugged currently or there is some trick to it that HG didn't script well.
