Yeah, "Abyss" was kind of a misnomer I think. A slight exaggeration. A wee misuse of the English language. Just a bit.

Have a large underwater base that is fairly deep in the valleys, takes a while to get to the surface. but a cave system goes much deeper below my base, and is dangerous due to how long it is....

The home planet on my 2nd play through has a pretty deep ocean. I was kinda shocked when I saw it and thought that I could build a huge underwater city in it. I didn't know it was an anomaly.

Nice Base, but not as deep as i hoped. I realy Hope that we get a Patch that adds deep oceans.

I like my underwater cave base because i can teleport to it just like the satellite bases, if i don't want to swim there which is an option also. But being gone a while not needing some of the resources, a lot of the critters had despawned. and were respawning when i went to take the screenshots....

That's awesome @Jalore!

Gotta say, I do LOVE underwater bases. I had two up until yesterday (I deleted ALL my bases yesterday...moving to a different side of the galaxy).

It was a lot of fun trying to figure out the best way to build a base that is in the middle of water with no nearby land but still have it pop up above the surface for one "room" and a landing pad. I wanted the base computer up on the water surface...that was the tricky part. :-D

haha, yeah i use cuboid frames till i break the water and place a large either square or cylindrical room at time and remove the cuboid frames then add a quad cuboid strut to the bottom or looks like a floating dock... then a teleporter, so can teleport directly inside my underwater base..

@Jalore, that's exactly what I figured out to do. There's probably guides online that walk you through it, but I like trying to figure out how to do these things myself. Part of the fun for me.

I love building bases, wish we had more parts, like The Sims style base building. :-D

I Playd a lot Subnautica, maybe thats the Reason that i realy need a nice waterbase. XD
Only downside is that the Subway in this game is booring and lame. Good is we can use the Exo in Water.^^

boooring, realy they should make Ocean Planets with 100% Water and deeeeeep Oceans.

If it's 100% water... how would you land on it?

Orbital jump. Call capital ship to low altitude. Land on one of your frigates. Jump off frigate toward planet. Getting off planet would be a little tricky but doable.

If I remember right, we had far deeper oceans back in Pathfinder 🤔 which were quite scary for me.
As someone with thalassophobia, I don't mind the shallow waters.
You don't have thalassophobia. :steamfacepalm:
