Heart of the Sun
I got to the end of the Atlas path, I guess.

Did something change since Beyond??

I could have sworn that, after I create Heart of the Sun, I'm on the Atlas station, and I get to choose "Birth a New Star", and then I get to pick which type of galaxy I create, and then it creates a new galaxy and strands me with a broken ship, in a new galaxy.

That didn't happen. In fact, after I chose "Birth a New Star" the Atlas path quests are gone now, and all I have in my quest list is "The Purge" and the Anomaly. And "The Purge" is, of course, telling me to go to the center of the galaxy through black holes.

What happened to the part where I choose my galaxy, while I'm standing there in the Atlas Station? I'm pretty sure that's what happened when I played last. Could my memory be that faulty?

I don't want to go to the center, because that only gets you to Galaxy #2.

I don't want Galaxy #2.

I want the nice pretty galaxy that it lets me choose.

Did they take that choice away?? What the heck was the point of choosing "Birth a New Star" then??!

You are mixing two storylines. Atlas Path is the Birth a New Star story. The Artemis missions is the pick a galaxy mission. I think if you read the choices, the nice pretty galaxy is obvious.

Unless you completed it already, you should still have one of the many sub missions that make up the Artemis series in your log. If you did complete it..you would need to start a new game if you want to change your choice. Alternative: just find a base in the galaxy you want at the Nexus...and go there. I believe you can just find a new system and make a home. Your old bases in the old galaxy are still available.

I did finish the Artemis questline -- up until "The Purge".

Then I switched to the Atlas questline. And actually just made the "Birth a New Star" choice, upon which choice the game decided no more Atlas quests.

I don't understand.

That would suck, because I don't want to try to get to the center ELEVEN TIMES.

Dangit.

So, the first ten galaxies are the same type as Euclid?

I have to zoom through black holes through ten Euclids if I want Eissentam?

I'll check the Nexus portal, I guess.

They really should be clearer on the Atlas/Artemis choices locking you out of the end of the Atlas path, instead of letting you go through the entire Atlas path and letting you make the choice to birth a new star and then blinking the questline out of existence.

That's pretty bogus.

It sounds like you misclicked and chose not to reset the simulation. I tried out both options yesterday, and what you're describing is definitely the "don't reset" path.
Masque 1 AGO 2020 a las 22:11
I had two options.

Birth a New Star and Go back.

I chose the first option.
Dirak2012 1 AGO 2020 a las 22:15
To reset the universe you must follow Artemis quests, then follow "the purge" where you have to warp 16 times going to the center, then you can reset the universe and pick a new galaxy.
The Atlas path is a different thing.

Okay, so I didn't misclick anything.

I have the Star Seed, and I have it installed.

Why didn't it make a new galaxy then? I distinctly remember, last year, being able to choose from four different galaxy types, then waking up in a new galaxy, on a new planet, and having to repair all my stuff.

So the Atlas path only rewards you with the Star Seed, and that's the only prize? "Birth a new star" only gives me the Star Seed, which only gives me another unit of health? What would the other option (Go Back) have given me, nothing at all?

I have to do "The Purge" to reset the galaxy and choose? I'm so confused.

Which method lets me choose galaxy? I thought The Purge just led me to the center, which cycles the galaxy type up by +1 each time?
Lazarus Long 1 AGO 2020 a las 22:52
They are still two different quest lines.

Complete The Purge will allow you to choose a new galaxy or choose to stay in Euclid. If you choose to stay in Euclid, but latter change your mind yo will have to fly to the Center to change.

"The Purge" tells you to reach the center, but the quest will end after just 16 warps, you don't need to actually reach the center. You will be directed to a portal, and then you can pick the galaxy you want to go.

Going to the center without any active quest will send you to the next galaxy in the sequence.

Yeah, this should have been in spoilers sub-forum...but after four years you kind of expect people either know the spoilers already or don't care about finding out the big reveal...which is actually not that dramatic anymore. Was a big deal when you could never go home again.

Ah, thank you! Confusion abated. I've gone three black holes since I posted. 13 to go.

My apologies, I didn't know there was a spoilers sub-forum, and honestly -- the game is like four years old now. I hope nobody ever tells you about Luke's father. It's a shocker.

Also, mods please feel free to move this topic to the appropriate forum.
