Quicksilver grind
Returning to the game with some friends I am dreading farming quicksilver up again as I simply despise daily missions in general. The thing is I do not want to cheat my way through also as I have farmed hard for the things I have so far.

So the question is do I do what I do not like and grind or do I use a cheap method to give myself quicksilver and thus cheapen the reward? It is a personal choice but I am curious to see how the community feels about it in general. I see a lot of videos with people pouncing on previous quicksilver farms but it seems Desolation ruined the fish farming method which to me still seems borderline giving it to yourself but then again you are still putting some time in.

Gah, why could HG have not made more missions or ways to get quicksilver beyond a daily quest? Anyways any thoughts would be appreciated as I don't want to cheapen my game but I also do not want to burn out on something I do not enjoy. I do not use mods nor do I do anything else in game that is not in place for us to use (like cobalt crashing when desperate for cash).

Thoughts?

I don't care about the whole community missions, so I just give myself the quicksilver. I play with the multiplayer turned off anyway.

I hear ya on that as I would only really be playing with friends and we all are family guys which equates to frequent 'afk' moments as we break to take care of things. Feels a bit lame to do it but I may just give myself the quicksilver one time. I am still up for doing community missions when I have time but I do not have time do daily missions and weekends, well it is the weekend so usually not.

Again I really wish HG had another way to gain this currency in game beyond a daily, somewhat sucks.

The missions where you go find ancient bones aren't bad imo, keep an eye out for those. I think the missions change every few minutes right?

You can get quicksilver from space encounters as well. Space Ice usually gives nanites or quicksilver or some other things. Ppl make decent amount from those... But yeah, I have the same issue, I do not have time for daily Nexus missions etc and those are really low paid. So gave myself certain amount via save editor...

Just banged out the weekend and daily and both times had free loaders afk'ing whilst I did the work (one guy went snooping around my base).

So I will just pretend those 2 missions paid 10x's what they did since I put in that much effort and be done with it. Maybe just enough to get a few things (egg, maybe armor) and then leave the rest as goals if I feel like it. Feel bad for console players as we have the option where they do not. I really felt like I was cheesing this but if I am being honest crashing economies and making magical cobalt profits from oxygen combination then I think I can live with avoiding free loaders and grinding and just do community missions when I want to and not because I have to grind them out for a month or more to get what I (cosmetically) want.

Yeah, one guy went snooping around my base that I was building for weeks. I've built gold mine, depots etc. Some boob visited my base build over my base items, messed up EVERYTHING what was there to mess up with. Built his own mine, his own really bad looking base... I ended up leaving this planet. For me multiplayer is big no, no...

is it possible to get banned for using, for example, cheat engine, to add quicksilver?

I am sure if they ever add a competitive mode somehow they may at that time add some form of anti-cheat but with the sheer amount of pc players that have exploited, edited, or hacked the game I would say no. Hell even some mods are effectively cheats if you look at Nexus. I will not use a mod because I really do (beyond this quicksilver grind) want to experience the game as the developer intended and not cheapen the experience.

I would say one thing though, do not hack and slash your game up with cheat engine. There is a No Mans Sky save editor that has a solid history of not only not screwing up saves but in some cases getting people unstuck when say a quest would bug out. Just be careful as I know there are a lot of variables in the game so maybe you lock down the address for quicksilver but maybe something else was referencing that address and dynamically changed (so cheat engine does not show it) and now you have a little gremlin just waiting to say "surprise" and bug something out later on. I am sure it is safe as people have obviously been doing it but if it was me, I would go with the save editor with a good track record.

Happy gaming and good luck.

Edit: Quick note at looking at the editor, sort the comments by newest first as it looks like some people are having issues. It was last updated on July 19th but always good to look and see what people are also reporting.

No.

There is nothing in the qs shop you really need, except maybe the void egg. If you don't want to do the mission then ignore them.

You can earn enough qs for the void egg with 8 dailies and one weekend missions, that is hardly grind.
