How to apply repair kit?
I just finished the Purge, all my ♥♥♥♥ is broken. How do I apply repair kits that I get from derelict freighters?

I have never been able to use them on my gear so either I don't know or they are broken.

Best advice I can give you is make a base quick and install the storage containers so you can have access to your loot. If you can't mine because you can't fix your mining laser, walk up to a plant or a rock and use melee attacks on it to harvest some resources. Once you get the basic mining laser working again you are on your way.

What galaxy did you wind up in?

I went to the green galaxy.

I was smart about it. I went and found myself a distress beacon and salvaged the broken ship, then went through the reset. On the other side, I repaired the launch thrusters and then sold the broken ship.

The equipment on my gun was totally busted though, and some stuff on my suit. I ended up just spending 45 mins in the station buying the stuff I needed to repair from traders. MOST of it is fixed now. I still need a few special things. Would be nice if these repair kits actually worked.

Well it turns out you are in Eissentam, where I currently have my home. If you want a leg up getting settled add me and I'll do what I can for you.

Click the broken item and there should be an option to select a repair kit rather than normal repair items. I have only used one so far but it seemed pretty self-explanatory if you read the messages in the screens.

The repair kit is a placeholder for any damage whatever, be it in your starship or in your multitool. It's very handy to repair broken ships. I usually employ it instead of wasting expensive items which cost 20.000 apiece and upward (Wiring Looms for example). It's worth about 10.000 if you sell 1 of it, so it's rather easy to figure out when you should not waste it.

That option doesn't appear for me. I have verified that the repair kit is in my inventory. I'll look again.

Ohhhhh I see it. You have to go into the actual build component screen, mouse over the broken component, and then hold E on it to apply the kit, rather than clicking on the thing with your materials in hand to repair it.

The repair kits are great for repairing the battle mech. Some of those components are hard to find.

Still stupid as hell that steam doesn't list when a thread was CREATED on the main board page, only when it was last replied to

I mostly use them when recovering crashed/distressed ships. In the screen where you applying materials to repair things read the options provided. One of those is the option to use a repair kit, rather than spend 200 silver or whatever.

Steam does show the original date when you mouse over.
