waiting for storms to pass....
What do all of you do? I want to stay immersed in the game, so I don't like to check my email or twitter.

I do wish there was a bit more micro-management of my inventory I could do or something else.

Any suggestions?

get some zinc and fill your hazard suit in traveling.

Looting zinc flowers and killing sentinels whenever you see them are a good way to keep your oxide resources up for staying out in storms.

link all three bio shields and storms are no issue, you will easily get enough zinc via plants and sentinals to be outside all day long.

Nice! I am really not good at the game yet. Right now storms will kill me very quickly. I am playing on Survival and I don't have the upgrades yet.

maybe those not work in extreme storms tho... find house or cave.

Digging grenade tunnels and shooting sentinals from them. The flying ones get hung up on the terrain above, so a puppy or walker is likely. Make an L shaped tunnel so you can run and hide as the walker starts to glow red.

Extreme storms, like the ones my current planet has, kill my bar in like 15 seconds. Bio shields maybe get it to 30 seconds. In an extreme storm, nothing to do but hide--quickly. Then power up anything that needs it, move things around in inventory, and just meditate. Best though is to time it so you're in a cave (or make a cave in a resource deposit like nickle). Then you can spend the time harvesting. Any kind of fighting from a cave in an extreme storm is not worth the risk to me, as you just can't risking having to run outside to escape or kite if things get out of hand.

Instant shelter: summon starship. :)

I always just bunker down using terrain manipulator, dig a hole, hide inside, wait for storm to pass, come back out then undo the tunnel I dug.

Install only the Theta hazard protection and have in exosuit and exosuit expansion enough Zinc and Titanium with you.
Never a problem anymore even when it is on an Extreme weather planet/moon.
No need anymore for seaking shelter ;-)

Why only theta? Wouldn't sigma tau and theta combined be better? But of course it eats into inventory space since tech slots are limited. I mean if you choose only 1 type of hazard to buff against why not go for all 3?

I think it's mostly because you would have to recharge all 3 of them... vs just keeping the 1 changed up when needed.

I go into a cave and sing campfire songs.

Then refill charges on everything, consolidate inventory, harvest some iron or bulbs in caves.

The exosuit tech depletes so quickly that I hide it out rather than keep feeding it zinc.

I usually dig up a hole with terrain manipulator possibly in a place where I have a good view, then I proceed with recharging all things, moving resources, then scanning to see what's around and decide where to go next depending on that and, lastly, use the full upgraded scanner on everything on sight or check for undiscovered fauna nearby. If there are resources very close I try to go and grab them, but only if I can make it in 7 seconds since on survival with no upgrades you can last about 15 seconds with an heavy storm
