@MisterFlagg - Not all genders are "Male and Female" anatomy. For example, my theory towards the Vectorised/Rational is more akin to the Angler Fish and the Osedax, which the "male" (who looks nothing like the female) latches on and fuses into the female's body, essentially becoming "one organism". The female can then choose when to become pregnant by using the male, essentially, as a second reproductive organ. In this case, taking a photo of the difference between male and female would determine how the "males" attach themselves to the "females" body. Granted - again - this is just a THEORY, but something that makes more sense than where the word came from: Where the Vector reproduced by sticking its DNA inside the Rational, only for the Rational to die after reproducing for the Vector.
@TΞSTOSTΞROWNLOL While it was funny, I would like to take some form of scientific seriousness into these theories for a fantasy world. I do enjoy scientific "what if" scenarios. Still, it was a good chuckle the first time I read it.
@lordoftheapes79 While yes, genders are randomized, I'm fairly certain there is SOME pattern to it. For example: There will always be a Female if one species if Male and vice versa. You won't get a Male and then suddenly get a Vectorised in the same species. If you find a Male, it's guaranteed to be a Male/Female species. I've found the same to be true for Vectorized/Rationalized. All I am asking for is the gender pairs for each, if any. (For example: I'm fairly certain that Unknown and None have no Gender which it can be paired with).
@yongbing1 Hey, I'm having fun so I'm enjoying myself with my theories. Besides, its not like I have anything else to do when I'm on the weekend and its 0°F Outside.
@BaneBlackGuard Yes, I agree that not all species have a Male-Female counterpart system, but that isn't what I'm asking. I'm asking for what Genders are linked to each other, and which ones aren't. A simple request really, just something I can't do myself for the time being cuz of an underperforming laptop. (I plan on rectifying this when I get enough money).
Edit: Okay so I've been playing NMS on and off for a while now and I never got to know the discovery system to well and it just now came to my attention that you can't actually look at a list of each gender in your discoveries, so you have to find them in the wild and look at the names and check the gender.
At first I was really confused because there are some species that have the exact same word in their names as each other and they have varying genders and visual traits but I was confused when I found 3 with the same word in their names.. at first I thought I had made a discovery that there could be 3 genders to the same species but then I realized that's definitely not what I was seeing.
So anyways, not I have to manually check each type and try to figure out the gender matches.. thanks a lot discovery system lol
1. Vectorized/Inderterminate
2. Male/Female
3. Vectorized/Rational
4. None/Asymmetric
5. Vectorized/Radical
6. None/Female
7. Male/Vectorized
I hope this helps you out. It was actually quite difficult to gather the info with the animals running around and there being predators and storms.
Side note,
I noticed that an animal's age was listed as "fluctuating" so it might interest you to look into other aspects as well, not just genders.
Good luck with getting your pc so you can play it :P
I've always intended to look up more about these species genders.. Hoping you post your findings in depth, or make a wiki page, or a blog, or something like that.
