Scanning from the ship
How can I look for elemental deposits on a planet from my ship? That way I don't have to walk around to much. I scan, and nothing shows up. Don't make me get on the ground and walk around, that takes too long.

You can only find deposits from using your player (I forget if this works) or your exocraft vehicles. Your ship can not scan for deposits.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that's inconvenient

Might seem inconvenient... but you would still have to land and exit your ship to mine anything. So you would be burning through a lot of plutonium.

*Unless you're just referring to copper, gold, and the like. Which you can fly around and eyeball it, you can usually tell what it is by its colour.

It's that or spend hours walking around looking for it.
Well, this game is kinda based around exploring and doing alot of things on foot. You can scan for rare resources and general things from space, but you have to go down to mine them, and to even find some of them. (Sorry the cargo teleporter and Acme industrial orbital asset mining laser are not in operation at this time.)

Scans from space will occasionally pick up Resource Deposits too.. just our ship doesn't have a feature specifically for finding them like our exocrafts or signal boosters...

But as people have answered, you have to go down to a planet to mine in the first place.. you can do a couple different things if your scans from space turn up empty results.. After you've finished scanning the planets/moons and found the one with the desired resource deposits, fly down to that planet and you can fly around while you visually look for the deposits... They're usually reflective and unnatural enough to stand out in the planet's biome, but if you still need further help finding one, find a nice plutonium shard sticking out of the ground and land next to it.. build your signal booster to find the resource deposit and then mine that plutonium to pay for the launch costs..

And dont forget the sprint jetpack boost to help u get around quicker, you dont have to walk everywhere

To execute this sprint, melee then quickly press and hold your jetpack, once you master it, it makes getting around much easier and breaks the tedium

You can even fly around the buildings using this method without landing, and leap over huge chasms in the enviroment

Once you get the jetpack upgrades you can do it much better than this guy, but you get the idea

In fact i will post this for the new guys that are playing
