Newbie here, how to activate the teleport thingy?

Keep warping to different systems, Build a base first then when you go to the space station go to the left door. The portal should activate.

You need to do quests on your base (so you need to have one), also to get teleporters to full features you must do other quests there as well.

That's not even true at all. You don't need any quests started. After you hit the second journey milestone for warping, the teleporter should be activated.

To have up to 4 entries in your teleport list you need to do special things, quests with NPCs on base I think. You should have asked me -1600 hours in-game, they didn't changed that since pathfinder.
