Does it matter where you settle?
Apart from resource harvesting and natural hazards does it really matter in which galaxy/system/planet you settle once you have done all the quests?

I have found the perfect planet in the Euclid galaxy and don´t know if this will effect things in the long run in regard to events or upcoming story, if any.

Since you can teleport anywhere you want, no, I don't think it really matters once you do all the quests.

You still need to keep the environment in mind at least to some degree.
Temperate planets without extreme weather or sentinels are just less annoying to work on.

Yeah, obviously you don't want extreme weather.... Sentinels. Eh. They only matter when you're trying to harvest stuff, which I doubt you'd really need to do after you build a base. But I suppose you probably don't want random robots flying around in your base to pester you, true. But they could make a nice Pugneum farm, shoot up a few, and then take cover in some mazy area they could never find you in and wait out the timer when you need to recover.

I'm saying extreme sentinels- the ones that always attack on sight.

Also depending on how you build your base, frequent hostile predators are also something to avoid. My planet has this little bug bastards every 10 feet, but I'm building on massive rock formations they can't reach so it doesn't matter.

I had a base built once on a tropical world that almost never storms (thankfully), but there were these felines that spawned near the base occasionally... well, early game I didn't mind the extra feline livers because they sell for a decent return, but when I got like 100 million+ I was like "I really don't need livers right now...." lol.

Nope. Everywhere is basically the same. It's all copy and paste with different textures and environments. Also there are teleporters.

Ended up settling in the Aptarkaba Galaxy, transferring majority of my resource bases to that galaxy and deleting my old ones. picking similar biomes but checking for no sentinels at them this time. My newer bases are bit better than my old ones.. but will put in a sentinel farm base and nanite farm when done transferring... but left a glyph portal base in each of the other galaxies i visted.

The decision is mainly QOL.

That said, if you want to tame critters and get items from them it pays to scope out where they are spawning and build very close. I had that happen by happy accident so whenever I wanted to mess with that stuff they were right there.

One of my other saves my base is pretty far from both spawn spots and I have to go ride them over to the "barn".

The nutrition stuff is kind of lame, but if you want to check it out it helps if you don't have to go find the critters.

Having a nearby portal is another nice perk...for those few times you want to do some visiting around the galaxy.

will say something else.... I don't know if ships still do, but back during 2019, I noticed that ships respawn. So.... this time, I built two tiny bases, one near a ship hoping it would respawn (it's a Rank C Hauler with two nacelles) and one near a manufacturing plant, becuase I know those can respawn too.

I made sure to build them 500u away, and used land marks to make sure I could find the thing again when I wanted to check for respawn.

Hey now, having my Exosuit Get snippy at me with: "Warning, Extreme Sentinel Planet Detected" Three times in a row after landing on or taking a portal to my main base, and have them always looking for and ready to KoS me any time I step outside to get on my Starship, to be followed by a Sentinel carrier once I reach orbit and get assaulted by fighters as I quickly land in my Freighter and have to b-line it to my command deck cause I'm being shot at inside my freighter hanger by Sentinel ships...

This sunrise makes it all worth:

And yes, I was assaulted by 3 Walkers 3 hounds and a bunch of armored fliers after taking this screenshot in photo mode and reloaded from my last manual save inside.

If you drop a save point one with 4 legs it will put a map marker up you can see hanging in the air and on the galactic map. handy to mark out interesting points nearby especially on a busy world.

I don't want to "taint" the area with these things to mess with their respawns. So I used landmarks. The manufacturing plant, I can see in the distance, and the crash site has a comm tower near it, I put the base so that if I look directly north, I see the comm tower, and the crashed ship is just beyond that.

That is a good point, we don't know what all could accidently interfer with a spawner. proximity or adding an item, or terrain edit etc...

It depends on how much one wants to work. I'm lazy. I go for a minor settlement on a pleasant planet with low sentinel activity. Also, I'm learning to use the survey device to look for buffs at a site.

Then again, it is a lot of fun to do it the hard way on survival after landing on some miserable piece of rock and not much else. That does require patience and planning. I don't recommend it for early students, but I suppose ??

I settle on extreme worlds, 600F. etc, Lot more fun to see alien Landscapes
