Was this confirmed? I am all for it but I just haven't seen an official statement about it.

Hype-a-roni the steam-a-licious treat....

Where do y'all dig this stuff up?

You have not seen any official info about it because it's fiction at this point...

unlikely there will be a server wipe. it IS likely that the universe will generate planets differently than they are now.

It is POSSIBLE that you will need to start a fresh save to get multiplayer.

None of these are confirmed.

it is unlikely there will be a server wipe because there has never been one since launch.

The fresh start for multiplayer is an educated guess based on the idea that multiplayer will be a new mode. again, that is an educated guess because of the problems that would arise trying to make existing games multiplayer.

We just don't know how any of it will be handled yet. just assumptions.

It's everywhere and that is why I asked. I couldn't confirm it.

What server wipe? Your save file is on your PC you can play completely offline and nothing changes.
Junkman Jul 16, 2018 @ 8:01pm
The server holds all your uploaded information like named planets and animals. Your save file can be invalidated with a single update.

I don't know about other people, but I never really cared about the uploaded and shared data, if my ship and credits are intact, I couldn't care less if the whole universe is renamed. Certainly I wouldn't call that a "server wipe"

i think most people talking about a "server wipe" are actually referring to an expectation of having to start a new game with multiplayer. they use the term "server wipe" because that's how people think of losing progress now. for someone that isn't familiar with saved games being kept on your own computer because they've always played online games, I can see why they may not really understand the difference. The real question is can I continue my game with NEXT, that's why I answer the way i do. Your old game will almost certainly still be there, whether you can use your old game with multiplayer is another question, and we just don't know the answer to that right now. My personal assumption at this point is that you will NOT be able to use your existing save game with multiplayer in NEXT but it will still be there to play when you want. I could be wrong, but that is my personal assumption at this point.

If that was a dig at Maxis I don't remember, Spore was 10 years ago!

There was a server wipe on the last big update, chances are there will be a wipe for this update too.

no there wasn't.

the universe got regenerated so planets were different. that's likely to happen this time as well. but your progress remained intact, you may have needed to remake your base depending on how that planet changed.

if you started a save game with a new mode you had to start over because the original saves were what is normal mode now. but those original game saves are still valid.

If multiplayer turns out to be a new mode you will have to start a new game for it.

Shoot you're right, my bad. I thought it was a server wipe, but yeah, everything was just regenerated. Sorry for the misinformation.
