According to an August 2019 post, NO, it's not possible:
https://www.androidcentral.com/does-no-mans-sky-support-cross-save
This was also confirmed again in April of 2020 on Twitter:
https://twitter.com/Techn0gen/status/1247929234640842752
Also, anyone & everyone writes posts on the internet. None of those people know everything.
But you CAN copy the save file of any game from console & move the file onto your PC. In the case of some games, it is easy to then edit them. Most games though, those files are encrypted & also need to be converted.
The short answer is that you CAN convert console saves into PC saves with a massive amount of knowledge & effort. You cannot however convert back into PS4 save, as Sony does not share certain info that would be needed for this. You CAN convert back into xBox saves from a PC save.
All of it is not worth the effort though, unless you are already more knowledgeable than I am about computing.
It's clear that PS4, XBox or any other console games are never meant to leave the consoles and every effort is made in that sense, inclusive encryptions of key files. Savegames may not be encrypted and working outside of the consoles - if you could recompile them in the right format like encrypted JSON (like Save Editor in the PC version), but that's not the case for NMS in PS4; could have been so but it's not, and XBox I don't know.

Now look at my Steam playtime for NMS (195 hrs on record).
How else do you think I achieved this? It would literally be impossible for me to have 5065 hours on Steam, as I haven't even owned it on Steam for that long.

I moved my save from PS4 to PC. I had help from someone else to decrypt it & make it viable as a PC save. I don't fully understand what we did; but we did it. It had problems, for sure. But it worked.

Check my facebook group & youtube channels & you will notice that everything switches from PS4 controls to PC controls at one point, but none of my stuff changes (ship, mutli-tools, extremely detailed bases & freighter, e.t.c)
All of this is clear evidence that it can be done & that I HAVE done it.

Would love to see a breakdown of what you did - I've got a ton of hours on No Man's Sky for PS4/5 and just want to play on my new PC :(

Do that by right clicking the game save in the save wizard interface “you have to have the save loaded onto a usb drive for any games to auto load. However you can manually import saves as well from other locations using the resign feature in the upper right hand corner and click import”.
If the advanced option is grayed out you cannot decrypt the save. That’s because advanced mode auto decrypts the save and opens a hex editor to manually adjust everything. Once you click advanced mode, a small box will pop up showing your are uploading the save. You save runs to the save wizard servers which are connected to several jailbroken ps4’s and setup to auto patch/decrypt the file and then send it back to you. It’s how they get cheats to work. They patch your file and send it back.
No mans sky has multi-player but HelloGames are super mod friendly so they don’t really care about cheats becuase you can freely do it already built into the game (you literally have a mods folder inside the game directory automatically 😂)
Anyways, once you have the advanced mode screen fully loaded and you see the guts of the save, you can find a “”export” button on the upper right hand corner. It’s the second from the further right I believe. Once you do that you can save you unencrypted save anywhere to your pc.
I use this method CONSTANTLY as I sold my Ps4 awhile back cuz pc gaming just has so much more freedom for modding and such. Then I can USUALLY transfer my decrypted save directly into the pc game save folder and replace it and it works. I did this with Final Fantasy VII remake as I completed everything in the game but never kept the ps4 for inter grade. Once I got intergrade I just copy pasted my ps4 save and BOOM.. worked flawlessly.
No Mans sky on pc breaks up saves differently than ps4 though and is tied to several files (mf_save.hg I’m pretty sure is a verification file tied to your save.hg save file) if you try to just straight copy paste your unencrypted ps4 file over, the game will see the save but state it’s from an incompatible platform....
However I can confirm that the version of NomNom posted above WILL successfully convert the unencrypted ps4 save to a pc version. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO DO IT! Anyone who says they did it another way is lying right now.
So there you go. Everyone saying you can’t unencrypt ps4 saves without a jailbreak is flat out wrong.
FYI Save Wizard is a one time 49.99 purchase last I checked “used to be 59.99”. You can install it to you to 4 diff computers at one time. However don’t uninstall and reinstall the program without removing your pc from your license key within the save wizard app. If you do this, the program will treat the new install as a new computer and use up another one of your free slots. I made this mistake and didn’t realize it. I uninstall and reinstalled a couple times due to various windows crashes and reinstalls on an old pc. Then that laptop finally totally fried.
When I went to install save wizard on my new pc, it said my slots were all full and couldn’t login. Granted I was able to contact save wizard directly and explain the situation and they freed up my save slots for free as a courtesy but they don’t have to do that (they are super nice guys tho so just be nice) but it took a couple weeks to do it.
Also lastly, DO NOT get the online save wizard version. Yes it’s cheaper in the short run “9.99 a month for web browser only access last I checked” but online mode WILL NOT allow you to enter advanced mode. Thus, it won’t decrypt your save files.
Again they don’t allow decrypting on all games... usually about 60-75% of them. If you have online multiplayer on the game and it’s a main focus, usually you won’t be able to decrypt as they don’t want Sony or game devs trying to sue them for allowing online cheating (Capcom tried to due them over Monster Hunter and sent essentially a cease and desist as they just released “advanced mode” the same time the game first came out. They quickly started to block advanced mode on certain games after that.
Without advanced mode you only have “simple mode” which are cheats they provide for games and you can’t alter or edit those cheats as they re encrypt the save file after they patch the file and send it back to you.
Have fun!
How do I convert the save game in Nom Nom?
That makes it a breeze to start a new game and simply equal the progress you have on your Xbox save, quickly and cheaply.
Simply make a note (take a screenshot perhaps of a portal address) of any favourite locations in your Xbox save and visit them to collect favourite ships or find your base locations. Off topic - this is useful for visiting Expedition Mode locations to collect ships or tech discoveries on your main save.
On PC if needed a save editor would help efficiently recreate your bases. Some may be quicker simply to rebuild without a third party save editor and without effort and safe from error, because you can change in game difficulty settings.
Also if it is a second account on PC you can visit your character on the other account and trade items or ships easily and safely without much effort. Kind of fun too.
