Can't connect to PC friends or PC -> Xbox
Last night 3 of my friends tried connecting to each other for over 3 hours while playing our individual games. 2 of us are playing through PC Xbox app, 1 on Xbox, and 1 on Steam. The only time I was able to play with our Xbox friend was when I jumped on my Xbox. We would see them listed under the multiplayer option as joinable with 1/4 in their lobby. It would say "Joining Session", then "Connecting", then it would disappear and nothing would happen.

It's pretty horrible. I'm half-tempted to buy a copy for Steam and see if Steam-to-Steam can connect. But I really don't feel like giving this developer any money with how broken it is right now.

just wait a littlte more longer

i´m playing on win7, tried every mentioned troubleshooting and still cant see anybody.
my friend which i wanted to play with, chilled yesterday here, looked at the official statement about the problems and said "well, ♥♥♥♥. this will take some time". He´s a very talented IT-profi and has knowledge about this ♥♥♥♥♥♥-stuff

so ... till the devs don´t come up with a fix ... i have to play alone

Force updates on either platform. One of you is in a previous version and will not allow a connection.

Youre trying to tell me that 2 people PC Xbox, 1 person on Steam, and one on Xbox all need to force update when no combination of any of us will allow us to connect?

just confirmed we are both on 60935. I was on a previous version, but it's still happening

Even in the video you recorded from, it's on 60854, which is exactly why it won't connect.

Sync your clocks. I wasn't able to play with a friend and then we re-synced our clocks and it worked after that. i don't know why it worked it just did. We were pc to pc if you wanted to know.

Had this problem with my friend, time thing worked:
This fix is EXTREMELY EASY to do (we were laughing our asses off)

1. Make sure that the game is Closed and Not Running
2. Go to Windows Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time
3. Turn on 'Set Time Automatically' AND 'Set Time Zone Automatically'
4. Make sure that the Time Zone that Windows chooses is the right one:
-If it isn't: Turn OFF 'Set Time Zone Automatically' but LEAVE ON 'Set Time Automatically' and manually set the correct Time Zone
-If it is: Go to step 5
5. Click the 'Sync Now' button
6. Reopen No Man's Sky and try to join your friend; if this doesn't work try it through Steam Overlay

This fix worked for my friend who had just got a new PC, we were connecting PC to PC through Steam. If this fix doesn't work for you then you might have to try something else.

Thank you FireandIce829 for the idea.
