Issues with Friend Code and Crossplay?
Hey all. My buddy on XBox recently picked up NMS (I'm on PC, still running Windows 7, if that matters) and we wanted to try out crossplay. Obviously it's early days so problems should be expected but I'm having a couple of issues I'd like to get some info / opinions on:
1) He sent me his Friend Code. When I try to add it, it tells me the adding failed.
2) When I click to see my own Friend Code, nothing happens. Specifically, the option to view my own code disappears, but nothing else occurs.

Thanks in advance!

There is an experimental branch. You could try that. I am going to try adding my son later today. I will let you know what happens.

I just found out about crossplay this morning. I am excited. I hope it works or they fix it.

Z3R0_C00L, best of luck! Sounds like a great way for a father and son to spend time :D

I have the same problem

I'm having the exact same issue. Fellow windows 7 PC guy here. Every time I click "See Your Friend Code" in hopes of copying it and sending it to my friend, the menu option disappears upon clicking it and nothing happens. There is no friend code anywhere... Really wish they fix it soon.

Also worth mentioning, anytime you try and add a friend or interact with a network related choice, a message pops up "Network Unavailable"

My brother is having the same issue. He is also on Windows 7. I haven't found any mention if this will be fixed or if Windows 7 is just no longer supported for the game.

Separate but similar issue. Between steam and XGP for PC can add eachother but only I can see his session ( I'm the steam user and he can never see my session) and the session is blank except for a devcode GAMEMODE_ , this update never saw QA lol...

Correction, we are the unpaid QA.

Also win 10 can be had for 5-10$ for an OEM single use code and the privacy concerns people seem to have can be resolved by several free apps including one by the Spybot guys. It's called Anti-beacon.

I never was able to get into this game and this update made me hope to get into it via way of cross play with homies, this is off-putting maybe I'll be back again in a few months haha. good luck tho!

What does the OS have to do with 3500$ hardware? I'm not even gonna bother correcting that lmfao

Win 7, cannot connect to matchmaking services. Cannot generate player code, cannot add friends.

Not 'upgrading' to Win10 because I don't want a spyware OS, and because I don't have to. NMS lists Win7 as a supported OS. End of story on Win10.

Hey all, just for the sake of future clarity, I have some updates on the initial situation. First of all, at least one patch has come out, and as per Hello Games suggestion, I made sure my windows was fully up to date (with the aim of getting the latest Windows 7 security protocols). It achieved the following results:

- I have been able to add my friend, and
- I was able to view my Friend Code and pass it on.

We've sampled a couple of multiplayer sessions and all has been well apart from issues related to Quicksilver. As far as I'm concerned, the initial problem has been addressed and is now solved for me, but the further issue of Quicksilver-related problems has replaced it. Again, for the sake of clarity these problems are:

- I am unable to access missions from the Nexus which award Quicksilver. My friend (on XBox) does not have this issue.
- My Quicksilver merchant is offering limited stock. Of notable absence; any void eggs. Again, my friend does *not* have this problem.
- Whilst with my friend in a multiplayer session and having him accept a mission from the Nexus which *does* award Quicksilver, I experienced a blue-screen crash.

On a likely related note, but not regarding Quicksilver, I am still unable connect to Discovery Services. The crossplay issue as a whole, it seems, is still only half resolved.
So wait, RahuMax. You updated your windows and made sure you had the patch and it worked? I'll sure check if my windows is up to date...
