How can i tell how many items my base has?
I know the amount shows up After i reach 3k items
But what about before, isn't there a counter somewhere?
The only number i see is how many of "this" item i can make, which just reflect the amount of mats i have for said item.
Building a large base, will be near the 3k cap, just looking for a item count, if there is one.

I think the base computer tells you when you go to upload. I know it defo tells you if you're over.
Blender has a part count too, if you use that.

The NMS save editor can give you the value with a simple calculation. Each base has a sub-section called Objects. Expand that section and scroll to the bottom and you'll see how many lines there are. Subtract 3 (three) from this number and divide by 20. That is how many parts you have including base computer.

.
You do not need to calculate anything, the number of parts a base has, you can find on the tab where you see the bases (Bases & Storage)

If you use GoatFungus NMS Save editor you'll see the number under each base of the Tab marqued "Base Storage".. Btw : (in PC Normal mode) :

1 :where did you find the ceiling of 3000 items ? According to the wiki (https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Base_Complexity_Item_Values), the limit appears to be linked to a complexity value assigned to a given part ?

2 : My most complex base (Hari's Eden Base Euclid) is 1198 items.

That info linked above is from Atlas Rises and outdated.

3000 parts is the maximum amount of items a base is allowed for it to be uploaded. You can have more parts if you wish, but it will no longer be possible to upload. There is a global maximum part count of 20000 items per save, which includes all the bases you have made.

Thank you for the info !

Thanks for this. I am always using "Edit Raw JASON" and never noticed this. Much easier.

This is the reason I don't play the game anymore... 20,000 items is too low and easy to hit that cap... then you are unable to build anything in any Galaxy or planet without deleting something else. I've hit the 20,000 cap and it took all the fun out.

fyi EACH wire connection is counted as a part. for those who have nice wire management, you should consider this fact. having 5 jump points between A and B = 5 base parts whereif you just did a connection from A and B and no jump points, then it would count as 1 base part. this should also be considered when using wire as docorations. each wire is 1 base part.

I use cuboids to minimize wiring and wire counts.

This is a complete mess, that they still havent made is possible to see the counter always when building and not only when we reach the 3000 pieces limit! That's so simple to change, but Hello Games don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about it!

Given there are 255 galaxies in NMS, if you built one base in each galaxy, each base shouldn't use more than about 60 construction points or so to ensure you can actually build one in each galaxy. Why is this important you ask? Because a base is the only easy and reliable way to return to a galaxy as you can't fly to them randomly. Galaxy transport is serial only: you can fly from Galaxy 1 to 2 to 3 and so on... but not from 3 to 2 to 1, and most definitely not from 1 to 3.

That being said, there are two ways to circumvent this galaxy-travel limitation in a limited way.
(1) in multiplayer mode, you can team up with someone who does have a base in a galaxy you want to visit, and they can transport you there if you are in their group.
(2) At the end of the starter Artemis-Apollo questline, you get a choice of the first 3 or 4 galaxies when you short-cut to the center. But that's only a random choice among the first 3 or 4 galaxies.
