3.000 pieces, limit to base building?
Here ends my journey in No Man's Sky. Making my base bigger and better was the only thing that really kept me hooked on the game. If they optimize the game so that the pieces limit doesn't exist, or is much higher, of the order of 10,000 pieces at least, then I'll be back.

I have read about the reasons for this, and I understand it, but they can optimize it.

If you want to build big bases be sure to set Ultra for the base options in the menu. All I know is you get a message in-game when the limit is reached, so you know you must stop. It makes more sense to ask how near minimum you can claim another base and continue to build from there.

Just put up another base computer and go from there. Base parts can even be connected between the two. My latest finished "base" is actually two put together, and it takes 15 minutes to run through it all.

I do agree 3000 items isnt enuff, but thats just for uploading. I got a base thats 4600 somthing blocks, but sence its over 3k, its just for me and cant upload.
like @dellers said, make 2 base computers, and share them. just upload when they are done.

Only one base per planet per user; when you upload the second, the first will be invisible to others, and vice versa.

Just don't upload your base. I have one planet with 4 bases on it.

Yes, I specified "invisible to others", not "deleted". I was clarifying that merging bases will not help if you want to make a bigger base for others to visit.

Then there really should be a warning in the game. When you use more than 3000 pieces it says that you can't upload, when uploading two bases the game is silent. It makes no sense to have such a strict rule and hide it for the players. That's a very serious limitation if correct.

I understand your frustration, but we have to take into account the fact that the servers aren't infinite, and while most of the time there are only some thousands of players in the game, when a new update comes out or when the game goes on sale those numbers drastically go up, and most of those players build and upload their bases, whether they are big, small, etc... That is why you can only have one base "visible" online. It's not a good thing, but makes sense from a technical point-of-view.
To be clear. 3000 pieces is absolutely massive. I have yet to reach that on my base, which has every in game item on it, as well as 6 massive industrial mining complexes.
Some items don't even count towards this total.

it's not as big as you think. I started building a town and ran out of limit pretty quickly just building a second structure. Now I can't show the town to my friends because of this limit, bummer. I wish Hello Games made it much higher than this, and gave a warning beforehand about it, same with the global 20000 pieces limit

in this case power won't connect properly, a very common bug in the game

agreed. Base building is my favorite part of the game, but it's bugs and limitations totally ruined it for me

They really need to address the problems with base building the click system is a fail, it needs to have clear connection points, and free placement is dysfunctional it needs direction controls. I am sick of parts of my base vanishing even on small base's no where near the 3k max object limit.

yeah, 2 of my sky bases(near open space) disappeared after aI reloaded the game. Funny thing is my friend saw it, and I didn't.

If base building was your thing, it is indeed over for you. The game is about exploring an endless universe. They added base building and a lot of other little features to take the edge off exploring 24/7.

This is not a building game. There are several games out there that focus on that. There are several games out there that focus on pets, piracy, massive space battles, etc.

Those aspects are minor factors of this game. Can you get a couple hundred hours out of it if those minor aspects are your TRUE thing? Yes, you can but realize it is not any of those things at the core.

And realistically there have to be limits and those limits are set by the low common denominator...which is typically the consoles.
