So the minotaur can NOT be summoned like the other exocraft with the freighter upgrade?
I can summon any of my other vehicles yet when I wanted to summon the mech the game gave me the middle finger and wouldn't allow me, does that mean the ONLY way to get the mech is to build the pad all the time?

Are you using any mods? Did you build the pad anywhere in the universe?

I summon mine all the time. I'd recommend removing any mods and then doing a Verify File Integrity.

Build one pad. Do not destroy it. Ever.

Location is irrelevant. So long as the pad exists you will have access to the associated vehicle.

You don't need to keep the pad around. Built the pad once on any planet to summon it, then deconstruct the pad. As long as either the pad or the mech itself exists on the planet, you can then summon it from your quick menu anywhere else on the planet.

I've never really used the dedicated summoning station (as I don't really see the point) but IIRC that lets you summon any of the craft to the planet, as long as you've built their pad at least once somewhere. I don't think you need to keep pads around for that though.

But honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that their scanners work (while the ones in the ship were nerfed to uselessness), I wouldn't bother using exocraft at all. Just running around on foot is better in almost every way.

If you leave one pad in existence anywhere in the galaxy, then you never need to build one again. It DOES need to stay built though.
You can harvest safely from the exo mech, as nothing but the sentinel walkers (and hazardous flora) will attack you in an exocraft. You're safe from sentinels, horrors & the weather & can collect whispering eggs/storm crystals with ease. You can also jump further & faster in the mech than you can on foot. Much faster traversal.

I can saunter faster than the mech can run, even with upgrades.

The mech has a jetpack for a reason, but its running speed is definitely faster than a player's walking speed.

Jump, not run. Of course the mech is slow on foot, but use it's jetpack jump & you can jump a full 250u in one go.

Doesn't need to be in the same galaxy, FYI. It just needs to be somewhere.

regarding "build the pad once in the universe"....

I'm quite in the beginning and I still have only the Rover.
what I regognized, I only can summon it in systems I have build a pad.
I buiilt a pad in by my starter base, travelled to another system via teleporter, and on a planet there I wasn't able to summon the Rover until I built a pad in that system, too.

so, am I doing something wrong, you all insist I should only need one first pad at all...?

To summon it anywhere you need to either keep the material to build a summoning station on hand at all times (you could just as easily carry the parts for the pad itself) or jam a less-portable version of the tech into your freighter, summon said freighter and then the vehicle itself.

The geobay defines 'ownership' - you must have one for the other stuff to be worth your while.

to summon any exocraft, you must first build the exobay for that exocraft (usually at your main base), DO NOT destroy that exobay!! if you travel to another star system, you can build an exosummoning bay, and use that to summon any exocraft that you have an exobay created for. you can also build a "special" summoning station on your freighter, summon your freighter to that system, and summon any exocrafts. (editors note: i say "special" as it can only be build on the freighter, and no where else.)

I don't understand the last sentence... since I have no "geobay"...?
have no freighter, yet.

but okay, I understand the main point. I only need one pad if it is on my freighter, else I need a pad in every system as I experienced.

so, the first thing was an exobay and was more expensive?
I didn't remember that, I just built what the tutorial told me... XD
I thought it was the same pad I was building later, it just LOOKS the same.
good you tell me not to destroy it, I probably had...

The geobay is the pad the exocraft sits on when you want to change its colour; the summoning station looks like a geobay with a radar dish stuck to the top and lacks this crucial functionality.
