Why? How am I supposed to efficiently hotspot-hunt? I was thinking maybe that was the perk of the new silly-looking "bike", but nope. This makes me sad.

You get off the vehicle and scan around.

I storm crystal farm, and I was wondering the same thing, ahh well.
Luckily I hold a lot of sodium on me.

Darn it, this would be preferable... annoying having to get out constantly O_o

Right?! Stuff like this always makes me question if the devs even play their own game at all...

You're going to get really good at driving forward 300 units, jumping out, scanning for literally 1 second, jumping back in, and doing it again.

Exovehicles are super useful but having to jump in and out of them every 5 seconds when you're looking for a hotspot is a poor design choice IMO.

and I really miss the usage of the mining beam.

I mean; it´s called MINING beam.
But it can´t mine deposits.
Instead I have to get out and use the terrain tool by hand.

Why that change?

No more driving on a hazardeous planet and mining activated minerals?
So what´s the whole purpose of the first four exocrafts then?

Exactly! How am I supposed to look for knowledge stones, salvaged data, mineral hotspots? what's the point of the land transport even?

Minotaur has environmental protection and you can gather storm crystals without exiting it.

The point of land transport for me is storage. I have good hazard protection modules in my exo suit and 3 "S" class movement modules in general and 3 in tech. I just melee boost until the jet pack empties and then switch to running while it recharges and I can move faster on my own than in any of the exo craft. Tooling around on foot means that I miss no knowledge stones, buried caches, buried technology modules, or POIs. When I get tired of hunting I summon my ship. I saw no need to waste a bunch of nanites buying modules for the exo craft when I use my exo suit 100% of the time any way and putting a module into an exo craft takes away a slot that I can store stuff in.

that's the problem with the game. There is no point in exocraft if you become no less fast(or faster) with the exosuit eventually. Now if you had environmental protection and visor mode in exocraft it would somehow worth it, but it's not. Heck it doesn't even have any solar power to help minimize the fuel requirements. Hello Games really need to improve all exocrafts, otherwise they are pretty pointless. yes they offer additional storage but we have hauler starships and storage containers for that. Having more storage in a different places just makes things even more complicated.

For me, exocraft storage is helpful in the early game, until I get my freighter. It would be more immersive to have the scanners function while in the exocraft, even if that required another module. Can you even imagine a sci-fi movie where the characters have to jump out of their planet rover to scan the landscape?

The exocraft had a purpose for about six months when your ship did not come with you when you used a portal and there was no anomaly teleporter. Building an exocraft to travel to a player base or location of a high value item was the only efficient method.

Other than that, they are really just alternative toys to play with. Pretty much everything in the game is equivalent or can be made equivalent with upgrades. So it really comes down to how you want to play the game.

I never use exocraft unless it is required for some reason like in E3. I would be happy if they just fixed the view when you use them. They are not much fun after about the first 10 minutes or so IMO.

I used the exo craft to explore in until they nerfed the built in hazard protection in them. When they did that and didn't give any tech slots to make up for it the exo craft became mostly useless. The 2 exceptions are the sub and the nomad since it can skim over water. Both of those are faster than swimming.

my problem with Nautilon is that you can't mine resourses required for it's fuel in any way, you always have to use mining laser for them manually, to me it makes it useless and once again the exosuit is far more preferable

Really? That's your problem with it? Not the horrible control scheme, particularly the inability to reverse.
