2) You lose your suit inventory, but it stays where you died for you to collect. The game will place a marker. However, this is only for Normal mode.
3) Completely safe. Storage containers are more like magical access points to a pocket dimension where players store their stuff. If I were to access a storage container at your base, I would just see the contents of my own storage.
4) Yes, storage containers.
Bonus: Dying is a pretty rare occurrence, it'll happen maybe once or twice when you get a little too cocky for your own good and that's it.
If you're in Normal mode and you die your immediate inventory (person/ship) will be located in a grave marker where you died. After you respawn you can return to the grave site (it will be marked for you) and you can recover all your stuff. Items stored in the cargo section of your inventory will not be lost. Base storage is unaffected and all your installed tech will still be there.
As for looting I have never encountered this problem. I think you can set who can interact with your stuff in the Network settings for the game. Pretty sure if a random player were to encounter your base they'd be unable to access the storage containers. If you're playing with a friend they can probably loot your stuff but then if they do so, are they really your friend?
Thanks all for the fast and good replies :) Very appreciated.
