Summon Freighter

I don't understand, I can be in open space and yet I won't be able to summon my freighter. Why?

If your in a Red, Blue or Green system your freighter has to have the correct drive installed.?

When I tried to call my frieghter to a Red system I got the error message that I needed a cadmium drive.

the games just super picky about summoning a freighter, just go out pretty far in space and summon it or summon it on foot on a planet.

Weird, I can summon it in any system (I don't have any freighter upgrades). Other than when it wants to annoy me

Yeah it seems like I need to pulse somewhere for a sec or two then it'll let me. It's really annoying when I'm in my hauler and pirates attack me. I want to summon my freighter to help out.

There musn't be any other AI freighters in the vicinity, or you get a red summon preview picture, go further away. Also if attacked you cannot summon it. Other reason is explained above - and is correct.

I'm pretty sure I have been able to summon it while getting attacked before.

Even where there is no AI around it still gives me a hard time. I wish HG would fix this instead of adding pointless Mechs to the game.

It's not broken per se. There are conditions for summoning the freighter that depend on distance to the nearest planet, distance to a space station, and so on.

The distance to the planet makes no sense. You can summon on foot and it goes into the atmo of the planet yet, you fly out of the atmo and you can't summon....

I have always been able to "summon" my freighter to any system I'm in but if your too close to a planet or station it will be red/can't summon here. "Here" meaning this spot not "this system"

++For the record I have Multiplayer Disabled (Have also tried with it enabled)
++This is a fresh game load, so first load in (have also tried reloading)
++I manually warped my Freighter into this system.
++My Freighter has all Hyperdrive upgrades installed and linked int he Tech slots

In other systems where I am ABLE TO SUMMON, if I'm too close to something, I still have the Wire frame for my Freighter in Red, when its in an acceptable spot it turns green and works.

Care to grant an explanation?

All the needed info for summoning the freighter is written above. You must meet these conditions.
In MP, there is the additional condition that not more than 1 player freigther can be in a system.

Also make sure to install the Matter Beam on the freighter, because for some reason it appears required for summoning.

"Fixed an issue that could prevent players from summoning their freighter to RGB systems."

Whatever these RGB systems are...
