Can't Land my ship!
New player. Landing on first planet. Says hit "S" to slow then to hit something... Shows an exclamation point in a yellow triangle. Online says that hitting "E" will land your ship, but it doesn't work. Also tried every other non-movement key. PC player. Help!

I think you have to check your key bindings.

besides the fact that ships are a little picky about where they land, yeah it's E and you have to be fairly close to the ground, slow as possible

Unfortunately that doesn't help. (Either one.) It's asking me to hit that darned symbol in the yellow triangle to land. Even reloaded from my last save point and it says the same. Sigh... My speed is as slow as it can be and I've even tried over very flat land. Nothing.... I suspect that my game is bugged.

Change your key bindings...

That symbol is just letting you know your close to the ground, has nothing to do with landing. E is the default binding to land the ship.

Yeah, I've had my ship refuse to land while I was basically dragging it across the ground as slow as it can possibly go, just because a rock looked at if funny or something. You just have to keep pressing the landing key until it decides it's over the perfect spot.

I also had landing problems, the E key doesn't work in all cases. This thread will surely help you:

Lately I've had to fight hard to land. Even on landing pads that are lit up with green circles. Something is definitely wrong. But you can drift a bit further away from where you are trying to land, bounce off the ground, then circle back and land.

Have rebooted the game. Also tried the tricks mentioned in the other thread - landing nose down and upside down. No luck. Guess I can't play till they fix this.

Just fly around and keep hitting E. Ships are not just picky about speed, but also about altitude and ground clearance. Once upon a time, we could land anywhere, then lift off and crash into things. Don't assume bug, assume you have to do a bit of experimentation and learn how to land.

Landing has become a real crap shoot lately.

Yes, I have noticed that sometimes if I don't wait for "the landing site not clear" message or whatever it says I seemed to get locked into a "can't land" scenario. If I wait til the message goes away then I can land. Sometimes it happens a lot and sometimes it never occurs the whole time I play. Sometimes I have to fly far away from where I want to land. This is a recent occurrence in the last day or so and I have never had this problem before in 600 plus hours, so I'm assuming it's a bug that will be fixed. Good luck.

I keep getting a message the says "landing sequence not available" or something to that effect.
Captain Xpendable Mar 20, 2020 @ 4:34pm
It's especially exasperating to get "landing area not clear" when there are no visible obstructions, coming from the same ship that sometimes smashes through trees while landing.
