An informative read for "ship hunters"...
Have you ever gotten into the thing of visiting system after system in search of that "special ship"? It can be very tedious and also rewarding when you get a nugget in your pan. I found this "tips" thread over at the Reddit NMS Exchange really informative and thought I'd share it here for those that are interested.

Thanks. That was a good read and I picked up a couple of tips.

Regarding the concept of reloading the game after the first or second wave, I was at a trading post and had done a couple of reloads and then received a phone call. While I was on the call I scanned new ships as they arrived but didn't reload again. On about the 7th or 8th wave an A class hauler came in that was 48/8. That suit my needs perfectly because I was really looking for a mule and specs other than 48 slots weren't important.

TL/DR: It can be beneficial to see several waves of ships come to a trading post rather than reloading constantly.

I'd also disagree with reloading after 1 wave... first wave tends to get stuck throwing same ships. The miniscule amount of time you save by reloading and forcing everything to show up faster, assuming you have everything on SSD so you got instant load times... tends to net you too many of same ships. Pool is not that big for a system, when half your wave is the same ship over and over and over again you are actually wasting time instead of going through faster.

I have found that to be true as well. It tries patience to hang-out through a bunch of waves of ships beyond the first few. There are also some Trading Posts (in wealthy systems) that are functionally dead regarding visiting ships. I don't know if that was planned by the Devs or if it just comes out of nowhere for no reason.

Camping-out is tedious work, but also kinda interesting to see the variety of ships and color variations that the game produces. Those two players that shared the tips are some of the most active at posting finds on that same Reddit website. They are good at it, patient and I enjoy seeing what they uncover.

I agree that if you're looking for that perfect 48/14 S class hauler (or some other specific ship) then following their guide will yield more desired results. If you are in a situation like I was then you can expand your parameters some, like waiting on additional waves.

It worked well for me because the A class hauler I got was only 91m units to buy rather than the 126m cost of an S class. I ended up getting two of the Bright Ashes PF4 style haulers to make a total of four ships owned.

Yes, while the perfect S-class, max slot ship of a given system offering is "luck of the draw", if a person is willing to wait beyond the initial (7) waves or restart the game enough times, lady-luck can pay a visit. 🃏

Also to increase the amount of ships that can park on the trading post, just don't land your ship in any of the land pads, instead on the ground (but somewhat close enough to be between the teleportation range of your ship, like for uninstalling any tech module before exchange).
This way up to 5 ships can land on the trading post at the same time.

That is an excellent point and one that I have always followed too. 👍

Didn't know that one. Thanks! Guess you can teach this old dog a new trick once in a while.
